    Credit Analyst

    About the Role

    The Credit Analyst will be responsible for analyzing financial data, assessing risk factors, and making informed credit decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive credit assessments of new and existing customers, including analysis of financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information.
    • Evaluate credit risk factors, such as credit history, income stability, and debt-to-income ratio, to determine creditworthiness and establish appropriate credit limits and terms.
    • Prepare credit proposals and recommendations based on thorough analysis and assessment of customer creditworthiness and risk profile.
    • Collaborate with sales, finance, and legal teams to review credit applications, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor and review customer credit accounts to identify potential risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Investigate and resolve credit-related issues, disputes, and delinquencies in a timely and professional manner.
    • Maintain accurate records of credit transactions, decisions, and customer interactions using designated software or tools.
    • Provide regular reports and updates on credit performance, trends, and key insights to management and relevant stakeholders.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting credit management practices in Kenya.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and risk mitigation in credit operations.

    Knowledge and skills for the role

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Proven 2-3 years’ experience in credit analysis or a similar role, preferably in the renewable energy or financial services industry.
    • Strong understanding of financial principles, credit analysis techniques, and risk management practices.
    • Proficiency in financial analysis software, spreadsheet applications, and data analysis tools.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to credit management in Kenya is a plus.
    • Fluency in English and Swahili languages required.
