Data Migration - Transformation Senior at KPMG

KPMG East Africa is currently seeking an experienced Data Migration Senior to join our Consulting unit within KPMG Advisory. The candidate will be expected to work with our clients to plan the data migration project, including moving the data and reviewing converted content as necessary, while considering risks and potential impacts. 

Responsibilities 

• Will be responsible for planning and managing data migration projects.
• Day to day involvement with project team member to identify, define, collate document and manage data migration requirement.
• Manage risks and monitor migration process throughout the engagement to ensure quality is maintained.
• Support transformation of the existing data into a format for the new environment and the loading of this data into other database structures.
• Overseeing and ensuring delivery of all aspects of data analysis, mapping, and transfer 
• Review of existing migration tools and recommendations for improving performance of the migration process.
• Review and update of data migration and data cleansing methodologies.
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports/monitoring dashboards.
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
• Filter and “clean” data, and review computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
• Owning the quality of the migrated data and the validity of the migration processes and operation. 
• Documentation of the lesson learnt at the end of each engagement. 
• Ensure building of data validation scripts before data upload cycles. 
• Work closely with client to prioritize the data needs. 
• Business development through proposals and presentations. 
• Provide guidance to the data migration engagement team. 
• Work closely with management on opportunity life cycle. (Proposals preparations, delivery, billings etc.) 
• Excellent communication.

Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics.
• Proven working experience as a data analyst/data migration specialist (recent data migration projects).
• Minimum of 3 years of advanced technical skills in SQL Server Database Management. 
• Experience using Oracle PL/SQL, SSIS, Talend etc.
• Experience in any ETL development tools e.g. Talend, SSIS etc.
• The applicant should have excellent analytical skills and technical writing skills.
• The applicant should have good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with associates, Managers and Directors at all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, Alteryx, Idea etc.).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
• Analyze Legacy Data Models to determine attribute usage/ business purpose.
• Data migration / analysis certification would be an added advantage.
