    Data Scientist-Manager, Map - AMR Kenya Project

    REF AD/7/94/23, I POST
    The Position

    • The position is domiciled in the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics in the Faculty of Health Sciencies, under the Monitor and Prevent Antimicrobial Resistance in Kenya (MAPAMR Kenya) Project. This is a five (5) year CDC project that will be conducted in three (3) hospitals: namely Kenyatta National Hospital, The Nairobi Hospital and The National Spinal Injury Referral Hospital.

    Location

    • This is a full time position based at the University of Nairobi, Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics, its holder reports to the Project Principal Investigator.

    Duties and Resposnbilites

    • Database management and maintenance
    • Developing M&E guidelines, data collection, management and analysis protocols
    • Ensuring source documents are safeguarded and that optimal data quality is maintained
    • Tabulating program data to generate weekly and quarterly reports
    • Maintaining a clean log frame of data queries and how they have been resolved
    • Developing standard operating procedures for data management
    • Statistical analysis of routine project data
    • Resolving data queries and carrying out data trend analysis

    Job Specifications

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Biometry
    • Masters degree in Epidemiology or Biostatistics
    • Certificate in Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
    • At least five (5) years of working experience in handling research health information systems
    • Experience in writing scientific manuscripts and writing grants
    • Demonstrated skills in database development with good analytical and presentation skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Experience working on an online data entry platform will be an added advantage

    Tenure and Terms of Appointment

    • The tenure of this job is one (1) year, appointment is on contract which can renewed based on performance, mutual agreement and project period.
