    Clinical Pharmacist, Map - AMR Kenya Project

    The Position

    • The position is domiciled in the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics in the Faculty of Health Sciencies, under the Monitor and Prevent Antimicrobial Resistance in Kenya (MAPAMR Kenya) Project. This is a five (5) year CDC project that will be conducted in three (3) hospitals: namely Kenyatta National Hospital, The Nairobi Hospital and The National Spinal Injury Referral Hospital.

    Location

    • This is a full time position based at the University of Nairobi, Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics, its holder reports to the Project Principal Investigator.

    Duties and Resposnbilites

     

    • Support the implementation of IPC recommendations and AMR stewardship action plans in the project health facilities to assist with antibiotic selection for common clinical conditions
    • Participate in the development of SOPs, clinician handbooks, mentorship framework and guideline documents
    • Assist in the development of campaign material on the risk of AMR as per the project’s objectives
    • Support the coordination of AMR surveillance activities
    • Support data collection on antimicrobial consumption and use in the project sites
    • Support the delivery of trainings aimed at building laboratories capacities to undertake AMR surveillance
    • Assist the Prncipal Investigator and the project’s Technical Experts to prepare technical progress reports on project implementation and achievements
    • Support the implementation of other AMR related projects

    Job Specifications

    • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) degree, recognised by the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board
    • Registration with Kenya’s Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB)
    • A valid Pharmacy practice license
    • At least one (1) year of experience working with donor-funded projects or clinical research
    • Demonstrate high level of integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality, and possesion excellent communication skills; a team player with report writing and analytical skills

    • The tenure of this job is one (1) year, appointment is on contract which can renewed based on performance, mutual agreement and project period.

    Medical Officer, Map - AMR Kenya Project

    The Position

    • Planning, organizing and coordinating project work including establishing and maintaining linkages with participating hospitals and other stakeholders
    • Ensure necessary local ethics review board and governmental approvals and renewals are obtained for the project and managing project ethics and human subjects’ protection
    • Supervision of site staff, ensuring that appropriate and good quality data is collected and uploaded in a timely manner
    • Ensure proper administration of consent procedures and questionnaires
    • Assist in training of staff involved in research on project methodologies
    • Make weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports of project activities as may be required
    • Liaise with the administrator with regard to project purchases and any other administrative issues
    • Keep the Principal Investigator updated on all administrative, research and financial activities

    Job Specifications

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree
    • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
    • A valid General Practice-Medical license
    • Certificate in Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

    Assistant Accountant, Map - AMR Kenya Project

    The Position

    Duties and Resposnbilites

    • Assist the project management team in preparation of annual and activity project budgets
    • Assist to ensure that the project team adhere to approved activity implementation budgets
    • Liaise with the UON Grant Office in processing of cash advances for project activities
    • Assist to ensure that the right accounting documents are presented soon after project activites to clear cash advances
    • Assist to confirm that all expenses incurred and paid for are project specific and within the approved budget amount and period
    • Work closely with the project administrator to ensure that the relevant documents are attached to all payment request letters
    • Receive and analyze project staff monthly time sheets to confirm the accuracy of the filled details
    • Ensures consultant invoices correctly reflect timesheet details

    Job Specifications

    • Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
    • At least CPA II, Section 4 or equivalent
    • Knowledge of MS Office and accounting packages
    • At least one (1) year of experience working with donor-funded projects in a similar position or related field
    • Demonstrate high level of integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality, and posseion of excellent communication; a team player with report writing and analytical skills
