    Deputy Director, Consumer Protection & Empowerment

    Detailed Description    
        
    An officer at this level will work under the guidance of the Director.Duties and responsibilities  shall entail: -

    • Coordinating the Developing of regulatory instruments, interventions policies and legislation as necessary
    • Providing professional advice on consumer issues.
    • Establishing mechanisms to asses and address emerging consumer issues
    • Coordinating the Developing consumer protection policies and procedures
    • Coordinating the Implementation of public and consumer complaints policy and procedures
    • Coordinating the implementation of mechanisms to monitor consumer trends and behavior and establish customer satisfaction level in the ICT market
    • Establishing and maintaining relationships with strategic stakeholders and partners for purposes of creating and enhancing consumer protection and developing/implementing consumer education and engagement initiatives
    • Ensuring on licensee’s compliance levels with the Consumer Protection laws, Regulations and Guidelines
    • Ensuring timely implementation of outcomes and recommendations
    • Participating in scheduled consumer protection and education activities and as team leader, respond to questions from consumers or stakeholders
    • Spearhead formulation, implementation and review of the departmental annual work plans, budgets and procurement and asset disposal plans in line with the Board’s performance targets and strategic plan,
    •  Lead in the execution of risk management policy and strategies that ensure the departmental has a robust system and processes of accountability, risk management, internal controls, business continuity and succession management,
    • Provide leadership to ensure continuous improvement of business processes and controls in the department and develop mechanisms for corporate consultations, increase public participation and involvement in Authority’s policies and programs,
    • Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good citizenship within the department,
    • Oversee implementation of principles of Corporate Governance, relevant national policies, guidelines, and directives within the Department,
    • Oversee development, implementation and review of corruption prevention and mitigation strategies in the department,
    • Oversee implementation of a robust performance management system within the departments through providing oversight of the delivery of the annual performance contract and the strategic plan

    Job Requirements        

    For appointment to this grade a candidate must have the following: -

    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Applied and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business related fields, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution,
    • Master’s Degree in any of the following: Applied and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business related fields, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution,
    • Attained at least fifteen (15) years’ work experience, three (3) of which should have been in a management position or in a comparable position,
    • Membership to a relevant professional body, and in Good Standing
    • Valid practicing license where applicable,
    • Certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution,
    • Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence as reflected in work performance and results.
