    Director Internal Audit (Grade 2)

    • The Director Internal Audit will be reporting to the Board through the Audit Committee and administratively to the Director General and will provide, independent, objective assurance and consulting activity aimed at adding value and improving the operations of the Board.

    Job Description

    The Director Internal Audit will be responsible for the following:

    • Providing secretarial services to the Internal Audit Committee of the Board;
    • Formulating and coordinate the implementation of internal audit policies, strategies and plans;
    • Compiling and issuing internal audit reports;
    • Conducting special audits and investigations;
    • Setting up and implement systems in accordance with auditing standards;
    • Testing the efficacy of the risk assessment systems;
    • Monitoring and reporting on the Board overall risk profile;
    • Supporting various departments in risk profiling;
    • Reviewing correctness and accuracy of accounting reports;
    • Providing of independent assurance on risk management process on both design and operation; and
    • Assuring on risk control effectiveness, efficiency and adequacy and risk management processes.

    Job Specifications

    For appointment at this position, a candidate must have: -

    • At least fifteen (15) years’ work experience with at least five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory role;
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (Finance and Accounting option) or its equivalent;
    • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (Finance and Accounting option) or its equivalent;
    • CPA (K), CIA (K) or its equivalent;
    • Membership of ICPAK in good standing;
    • Leadership course not less than four (4) weeks; and
    • Proficiency in computer application skill.

    Method of Application

    • Shortlisted candidates must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and submit valid and current copies of the following documents during interviews:
      • National Identity Card
      • Academic and professional certificates together with transcripts
      • Any other supporting documents and testimonials; and
      • Current Clearance Certificates from the following bodies;
    • Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority
    • Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board
    • Clearance Certificate from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
    • Report from any of the registered Credit Reference Bureaus (CRB); and
    • A Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

    Letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission for University Education (CUE) for any degree obtained from foreign universities; and Recommendations from the relevant professional bodies (where applicable).
    Officers in NITA Grade 2&3 shall be appointed on a contract of five (5) years renewable subject to performance.
