Director, Internal Audit at Kitui County

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

1. Served in the grade of Deputy Director, Audit for at least three (3) years;
2. Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting/Finance) Option or CPA Part II/CIA III;
3. Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Master of Science in Auditing and Consultancy;
4. Post graduate Diploma in Internal Auditing or its equivalent; and
5. Registration by the Institute of internal Auditors (IAA) or Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

1. Efficient organization, control and supervision of the Department;
2. Responsible for the review of audit plans and programmes;
3. Reviewing budgetary reallocation process to ensure legislative and administrative compliance and advise accounting officers where commitments are entered into when there is no budgetary provision and inadequate funds;
4. Carrying out investigations on irregularities identified or reported and report on any wastage of public funds resulting from decisions which may not have been well planned, decisions made without being cost conscious and/ or general misuse or misappropriation of financial resources and government property; and
5. Develop and review audit guidelines and systems.
