    Emergency Medical Technician - Basic II - 13 Posts

    Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:

    • Working in a Basic Life Support unit as a patient attendant or an ambulance operator (driver);
    • Assessing patients and establishing their emergency medical care needs;
    • Planning and implementing care interventions;
    • Administration of basic medication to provide better outcomes; and
    • Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment and ensuring safe custody of patients’ belongings.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

    • Served in the grade of Emergency Medical Technician - Basic III, for a minimum period of two (2) years;
    • Certificate of completion in Emergency Medical Technician -Basic Course or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized training institution;
    • Certificate in Emergency Vehicle Operations Course and a valid class BCE driver’s license with Public Service Vehicle license;
    • A valid practicing license / operating card from a recognized licensing institution;
    • Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution; and
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
