    Job Description

     Test Development – School Assessments

    The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:

    • Participating in curriculum development activities;
    • Participating in the alignment of syllabuses and curriculum designs to examinations and assessments;
    • Developing Tables of Specifications for all test papers and assessment tools;
    • Training setters and moderators;
    • Setting and moderating test items/papers and assessment tools in a secure environment;
    • Proofreading and approving test items/papers for banking;
    • Participating in pre-testing of test items;
    • Providing input in the preparation of examination timetables and assessment schedules;
    • Providing input in the preparation of divisional work plans, procurement plans, and budgets;
    • Participating in the coordination of marking schemes during marking;
    • Participating in awards and grading;
    • Preparing examination feedback reports;
    • Implementing the recommendations of Chief Examiners and Awards Panels for continual improvement;
    • Ensuring security and confidentiality of all examination and assessment materials;
    • Keeping abreast with trends in psychometrics;
    • Adhering to the requirements of the Quality Management Systems for continual improvement;
    • Process payment claim vouchers for contracted professionals and recommend payment

    Test Development - Teacher Education Assessments

    The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:

    • Training and recruiting setters and moderators;
    • Preparation of assessment timetables;
    • Setting and moderating assessment items/papers
    • Analyzing assessment test items/papers and preparing feedback reports;
    • Registration of candidates for Teacher Education assessments;
    • Identification, inspection and approval of assessment, distribution and marking centers for Teacher Education assessments;
    • Coordinating marking of candidates’ scripts for Teacher Education assessments;
    • Coordinating assessment of practical, orals and projects for Teacher Education assessments;
    • Processing candidate’s assessment marks and producing results;
    • Issuing academic certificates and diplomas to successful candidates for Teacher Education assessments.

    Qualification and Experience

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Education from a recognized institution OR Bachelors Degree in a relevant discipline plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution
    • OR a Higher Diploma in a relevant discipline and a Diploma in Technical Education from a recognized institution and at least four (4) years cumulative teaching experience;
    • Demonstrated competence and merit in work performance;
    • Proficiency in computer applications;
    • Fulfillment of the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
