    Executive Director

    Job Summary 

    • Under the guidance of the Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations (KENCO) Board of Directors and reporting to the Board chairperson; the Executive Director is expected to provide overall leadership to the KENCO. 

    The key result areas include, but not limited to: 

    • Resource mobilization and grant writing 
    • Program planning, implementation and monitoring, evaluation and research.
    • Key Liaison with Government agencies, donors, media, and related partners. 
    • Human resource management and day-to-day operational leadership.
    • Strengthening the Membership and fostering teamwork in cancer control.
    • Fiscal management and budget tracking.
    • Development of relevant organizational documents, policies, and processes.
    • Implementation of the KENCO strategic plan 2023-2027
    • Support to the Board of Directors.
    • Representing KENCO in key strategic meetings.
    • Any other duties as allocated by the supervisor.

    Basic Attributes: 

    Academic/Professional Qualifications 

    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or any health discipline or Social Sciences with additional qualifications in Program Management. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.

    Work Experience and Skills 

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience providing senior leadership in designing and executing strategic programs, advocacy, and fundraising activities in healthcare, preferably in a non-profit setting.
    • Extensive Knowledge of the healthcare landscape in Kenya.
    • Experience working with civil society is a plus.
    • Prior experience in cancer or non–non-communicable Disease control is an added advantage.
    • Proven and demonstrable track record in fundraising. 
    • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking, writing, editorial, and presentation skills.
    • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and partnership development capabilities.
    • Basic knowledge of financial management systems for non-profit organizations including legal and  tax compliance.
    • Proficient in computer skills: MS Office and Social Media 
    • Excellent oral and written communication, and experience with donor requirements for report writing

    Personal attributes 

    • A self-starter, go-getter, excellent in time management, and can work well independently and within a team. 
    • Passionate and enthusiastic about policy advocacy and fundraising for a cause especially cancer control.
