Fiber Optics Design Engineer at Tatu City Limited

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall responsibilities:

• Engage current and potential customers to understand the demand for FTTX connectivity requirements in the various precincts and projects.
• Forecast Fiber capacity requirements both for the short and medium term.
• Detailed design of FTTX, including on-site survey, cost analysis, design and engineering of network and optical designs and building BoQ
• Articulating, conceptualizing and planning the design of the Tatu telecom network and MMR.
• Involved in the installation and maintenance of a Fiber Optics FTTX infrastructure.
• Ensure Fiber networks (OSP, ISP, OHL) are planned, designed, deployed and As-builts done to agreed standards
• Keep up-to-date documentation on fiber route plans, splicing charts and core allocations.
• Perform regular FTTX tests, OTDR, CD/PMD, ORL, Power Meter, and scopes.
• Utilize existing and future fibre optics in a cost-effective manner while maximizing revenue generation, integrity, and reliability.

REQUIREMENTS

Hard skills and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/computer science or related field
• 7 years of experience in FTTx network design and deployment
• Cisco Certified or related network certification.
• Proficient in using CAD programs, Google Earth, and GIS-related software.
• Competence in design methodology, process, and metrics
• Create fibre distribution schematics that show fibre size and fibre distribution.
