    One Health Investment Plan Facilitator

    Tasks And Responsibilities

    The incumbent in liaison with One Health stakeholders, the National One Health Coordinating platform, and the Zoonotic Diseases Unit, will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

    • Prepare a short inception report describing the applicable tools and methods to be used for the national One Health diagnostic, including details of the work plan, time schedules, and data sources.
    • Conduct a desk review and analysis of national reports and documents related to existing assessments of One Health, Agrifood systems and core capacities of health systems (of relevance to agrifood systems) in the human, animal and environment sectors and highlight the strengths and gaps identified as well as measures proposed or implemented to correct the deficits and submit an interim report as the Country OH profile.
    • Contribute to the stakeholder mapping of all stakeholders of relevance for One Health in agrifood systems considering human, animal, plant, environment and food system actors and their projects/programmes as well as relationships between them
    • Explore joint entry points and prioritize with key national stakeholders for investment planning, through a costing and scoping investment exercise.
    • Prepare a prioritized and costed One Health investment plan, from an agrifood systems perspective to support the government to steer and mobilise investments
    • Liaise with and engage other thematic leads (Zoonoses, One Health, Agrifood systems and AMR) where relevant in the delivery of the mandate.

    CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

    Minimum Requirements

    • Advanced university degree in Veterinary Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics, or Preventive medicine.
    • Seven years’ experience in public health or animal health systems, including management of national or regional programmes for prevention and control of health threats at the human, animal, and environment interface.
    • Working knowledge (level C) of English and Swahili.
    • Must be a Kenyan National.

    Technical/Functional Skills

    • Good understanding of the government systems, particularly the ability to engage relevant sectors and disciplines across the human – animal – environment
    • Experience in working in a multi-cultural ‘UN like’ environment.
    • Excellent analytical, writing and synthesis
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and sensitivity to political and cultural issues.
    • Ability to work proven experience in multisectoral teams and under pressure to meet deadlines.
    • Experience in cost-benefit analysis of One Health programming is desirable
    • Experience in programme/project planning, design, follow-up, monitoring and evaluation.
