Job Specifications

1. Developing and updating Renewable Energy Master Plan;
2. Providing policy direction and overseeing design, development and implementation of programmes and projects in Renewable Energy;
3.  Formulating, reviewing and implementing renewable energy policies, strategies and guidelines;
4. Resource mobilization for renewable energy projects and activities;
5. Providing technical advice and guidance on renewable energy technologies;
6. Engaging stakeholders in the promotion of Renewable Energy;
7. Promoting renewable energy research and development, innovation and technology transfer;
8. Maintaining a databank of service providers;
9. Managing mediation, negotiations, adjudication and resolution of disputes arising from renewable energy projects and programmes;
10. Developing specifications for Renewable Energy Systems;
11. Identifying and developing projects for Clean Development Mechanisms;
12. Collaborating with Counties and other agencies in promoting the use of Renewable Energy Resources;
13. Overseeing performance management and capacity building in the directorate
14. Monitoring and evaluating renewable energy projects and activities;
15. Overseeing the management and administration of the Directorate’s resources and ensuring prudent utilisation; and
16. Overseeing preparation of the Directorate’s budget, strategic plan, work plans and procurement plans.

Person Specifications

1. A minimum period of twelve (12) years’ work experience and at least five (5) years in a relevant senior management role;
2. Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: sustainable energy, renewable energy technologies, environmental science, engineering, Management, Entrepreneurship or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
3. Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: sustainable energy, renewable energy technologies, chemistry, Physics, biochemistry, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, engineering (mechanical, chemical, electrical, energy or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
4. Certificate in leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
5. Membership of relevant professional body;
6. Proficiency in computer application;
7. Demonstrated competence in work performance; and
8. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
