    Graphic Design Intern

    ROLE PURPOSE

    The Pre-Press Designer Intern will support the design and pre-press team by preparing digital files and artwork for printing. This role provides hands-on experience in graphic design, file preparation, and print production processes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in creating and revising digital artwork, including typesetting, illustrations, photo manipulation, logo design, branding, and printed collateral.
    • Support customer service staff and clients by providing alternative graphic options based on artwork requirements, material selection, and printing technologies.
    • Learn to impose digital files for efficient print and bindery production.
    • Assist in communicating with clients regarding artwork specifications, potential issues, and project deadlines.
    • Help in preparing and optimizing client graphic files for proofing and production.
    • Work on scheduling jobs based on due dates and production priorities.
    • Ensure file consistency with previous or similar jobs to maintain quality standards.
    • Assist in reviewing and finalizing artwork with clients before production.
    • Work closely with the sales team to understand client needs and translate ideas into design.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Certificate/Diploma/ Degree in Electronic Publishing, Graphic Design, or a related field.
    • Basic understanding of print design, file preparation, and pre-press production is an added advantage.
    • Completed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

    SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES FOR THE ROLE

    • Basic knowledge of printing processes (Flexo and Offset printing preferred).
    • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Microsoft Office.
    • Keen attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to learn quickly and work in a team environment.
    • Creative thinking and adaptability in design tasks.
    • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines.
