    Head Chef

    Job Summary

    This position is responsible the standard and quality of the food production and the hygiene within the department is maintained at the highest level at all times.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Make daily requisitions for different sections to ensure availability of all the raw materials required for preparation of food to ensure continuous production. Oversee ordering and control of stock levels.
    • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
    • Supervise kitchen staff to ensure the preparation of all food ensuring that all food is prepared as per the food preparation requirements
    • Wash and cut raw foods using appropriate tools to produce quality food following standard practices and procedures.
    • Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
    • Ensure timely preparation of food by coordinating the chef and cooks to meet the set time targets and quality. Ensure sufficient quantities are available for the various areas
    • Ensure the correct food portions are served to avoid wastage that reduce the overall costs. Maintain stock levels of all kitchen supplies
    • Ensure proper cleaning of equipment daily do avoid food contamination and improve the quality of food.
    • Regularly review the food menu and assembling foods, supplies and equipment for daily food preparation.
    • Make appropriate detection and report any malfunction in the kitchen.
    • Be available for functions as they arise to ensure that the food is prepared and served as required

    Qualifications

    • Degree/Diploma in Food and Beverage from a recognized institution
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a similar position preferably in a learning institution
