    HR Assistant

    Job Purpose 

    Reporting to HR & Corporate Services Manager, the holder of this position will ensure that all human resource needs for the business function(s) are met and align the HR objectives with the organization’s operational objectives. The person is expected to contribute to the development of a performance driven culture in the organization by coordinating and organizing learning and development of staff in the organization, aids in the end-to-end logistics of the recruitment process and welfare administration, with excellence that drives HR credibility through the quality of its output, ‘getting the basics right, every time. They will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the office and will be expected to provide internal support to team leads and team members as necessary.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    Support the execution of the HR Strategy:

    • Support the HR & Corporate Services Manager in ensuring the execution of the People Strategies & Plans that attract, develop, and retain employees to support the organizational short and long-term business needs to drive competitive advantage and address opportunities and threats.

    Learning and Development:

    • Ensures delivery of appropriate learning programmes to support business objectives by consulting with executive management / other key stakeholders on learning programmes or other relevant interventions that will support the business strategy.
    • Establishes training and development needs of the staff through the ongoing process of evaluation and performance management.
    • Compiles workplace skills plan and annual training report submissions.

    Recruitment:

    • Responsible for the coordination of the logistics for the end-to-end recruitment process.

    On boarding:

    • Plan, coordinate and execute a robust on-boarding program for the staff joining the business.

    Welfare Administration:

    • Administering employee benefits as well as keeping benefits information organized and up to date in all systems such as Pension and Medical benefits and ensuring that all new staff enrolments are done on time as well as off boarding exiting staff.
    • Vendor management for all suppliers of the staff benefits.

    Safety:

    • Implement and maintain an effective health and safety environment. -Ensure compliance of local legal requirements e.g., OSHA and/or related legislations.
    • Ensure compliance to internal health and safety standards and advisories through training, gap analyses, action plan implementation and regular audits. -Identify health and safety training needs, prepare, and organize, co-ordinate or conduct safety training where appropriate.
    • Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies like DOSH any other key stakeholders.

    Security:

    • Ensure that all supporting documentation like policies, procedures, programs, and plans in respect to the health, safety and environment are in place and up to date.
    • Investigate incident and accidents to establish root causes then formulate a plan of action to correct non-compliant behaviour or conditions.

    Knowledge and Experiences 

    • Bachelor's Degree Level in HR, social studies, business studies or equivalent 
    • CHRP or higher diploma in HR or equivalent 
    • Member of IHRM
    • At least 3 years as a HR Generalist preferably Learning and Development, Recruitment and Talent Management 
    • Business Acumen (Understanding of business, performance drivers, long term direction)
    • Understanding financial and non - financial business result and the HR/People Impact 
    • Sound knowledge of kenya employment law and labour regulations, compensation, performance and talent management 
    • Ability to maintain links with external networks (E.g IHRM, FKE, NITA etc)
