ICT Officer - Software Development and Support at BIMAS Kenya Limited

Job Summary Description

We are looking for an ICT Assistant (Software Development and Support) who will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing frontend and backend software for a complex application Translating software requirements into working and maintainable solutions within the existing application frameworks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Reviewing, writing, testing, debugging/troubleshooting and maintaining the source code of software applications
• Performing implementation of the Integration of software components and third–party programs
• Continuous programming and enhancements of BIMAS systems to accommodate any new requirements
• Document the development process, architecture, and standard components
• Troubleshooting of systems performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput and latency
• Iintegrate existing software products and get incompatible platforms to work together
• Develop and design RESTful services and APIs
• Utilize backend data services and contribute to increase existing data services API
• Lead the entire application development life cycle right from concept stage to delivery and post launch support
• Develop functional databases, applications, and servers to support websites on the back end.
• Consult clients and colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of software systems, with a view to writing or modifying current systems in place
• End user support
• Any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering (or a related IT Field or equivalent professional experience)
• Thorough mastery of the fundamental web languages: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Solid experience working with PHP, the most recent Laravel version, and SOLID Principle, as well as other web frameworks, Python, Node.js React, Django, Software Versioning Management using Git, API developments, CodeIgniter .
• Demonstrated proficiency in API service management (REST and SOAP), OOP (Object-oriented Programming), and MVC
• Familiarity with databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design
• Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Solid working understanding of database architecture and query optimization (MySQL, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB and DynamoDB)
• Working knowledge of server technologies (Apache, Nginx)
