Intern- End Sexual Violence Thematic Area at Equality Now

The Intern shall mainly provide support to the Gender Justice project. The main responsibilities are highlighted below. 

Main Responsibilities:

• Research primary prevention of sexual and gender-based violence and link the same with women's economic empowerment for Busia, Kisumu and Makueni County; 
• Support the programmatic leads to develop a brief on women's economic empowerment to guide the implementation of WEE initiatives at the county level;
• Overall research on emerging issues on SGBV that affect the implementation of the Gender Justice Project; 
• Provide administrative support in planning for county or national engagements with stakeholders under the Gender Justice Project; 
• Support with the development of reports and minute-taking at convenings; and 

Any other support may be required to support the Gender Justice Project. 

Qualifications:

• A Degree in Law or social sciences; 
• Experience in women’s rights and sexual and gender-based violence or violence against women is a plus;
• Strong feminist thinking and analysis;  
• Strong research and excellent writing skills in English;
• Excellent organizational skills;
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and work with diverse people; and 
• Participate effectively in a team and information-sharing environment, collaborating and cooperating with others.
