Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Investigations Division (ID) of the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) Regional Office in Nairobi. The Investigator will report to the Chief of Section in Nairobi. The Investigator will be required to travel to remote locations, at times for extended periods, to manage and conduct investigations.
The Office of Internal Oversight Services is an independent office reporting to the Secretary-General and to the General Assembly. The Investigations Division follows up on reports of possible violations of rules or regulations, mismanagement, misconduct, waste of resources, sexual harassment, or abuse of authority.

Competencies
Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in law or a relevant field is required. A first-level university degree in law or a field related to investigations in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted, in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. A working knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Appointment or assignment against this position is for an initial period of one year. The appointment, or assignment, and renewal thereof are subject to the availability of the post or funds, budgetary approval, or extension of the mandate.
