    Laboratory Technologist

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support the county in implementation of laboratory quality management standards and accreditation process
    • Ensure Proper Sample collection, packaging and results management and result follow up with KEMRI in cases of delayed results T.A.T
    • Ensure viral load and EID samples are remote logged before submission to testing laboratories
    • Ensure integration of HIV/TB services with the county staffs and Provide mentorship and on
    • job training both to new laboratory employees and county staffs.
    • Coordinate laboratory HIV/ TB sample collection commodity management with the region;
    • accountability, distribution/ redistribution, timely consumption report and ordering
    • Coordinate laboratory sample networking within the county in collaboration with the riders
    • to ensure quality and timely delivery to the testing laboratories (Gene Xpert, Viral load and CD4)
    • Perform a monthly laboratory quality indicators analysis for the facilities within the region;
    • Turnaround Timely for V.L and CD4 (TAT), sample rejection rates and uptake
    • Promote Ministry of Health engagement with the specific county /sub county medical
    • laboratory Technologist(S/CMLT), for lab related activities e.g. commodities /RTK allocation, proficiency testing, Biosafety, training etc
    • Review Quality Control, maintenance, and Equipment record for all facilities in the region as per the requirements
    • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities at the facility
    • Compile and submit laboratory monthly reports as required by the program
    • Participate in education and training of staff through continuous Medical Education programs

    Vacancy Requirements:

    • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science
    • Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists board (KMLTTB)
    • Proficiency in computer application
    • Minimum laboratory experience of one (1) year in a busy laboratory
    • Pleasant personality, flexibility, team player, ability to solve problems, work with minimal supervision
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
