Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is situated in Juja, 36 kilometres North East of Nairobi, along Nairobi-Thika Highway. It was started in 1981 as a Middle Level College (Jomo Kenyatta College of Agriculture and Technology (JKCAT)) by the Government of Kenya with the generous assistance from the Japanese Government. All applicants must:
- Possess a PhD in Food Science from an accredited and recognized institution of higher learning in the following areas of specialization; Food Microbiology/Food Biotechnology, Functional Foods Technology/Nutraceutical Foods Technology, Cereal Technology/Baking and Confectionary Technology or Meat Technology/Fruits and Vegetables Technology.
- Possess MSc in Food Science/Food Technology, and a BSc in Food Science and Technology.
- Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable)
Applicants who possess the following additional qualifications will have an added advantage:
- At least three (3) years teaching experience at the university level or at least three (3) years’ experience in research or industry
- At least two (2) publications in refereed journals
