The National Police Service Commission of Kenya is an Independent government Commission established under the Constitution of Kenya to ensure smooth functioning of the National Police Service of Kenya.

Duties and Responsibilities
Managerial Responsibilities
- Coordination of information services and all public relation activities within the Commission;
- Mentor, coach and train staff in the unit;
- Coordinate and review the Commission’s corporate image;
- Monitor and measure public relations and communications effectiveness;
- Manage Digital and Media Relations including information sharing invitations for Commission events;
- Coordinate information gathering on programmes and significant events in the National Police Service Commission
- Initiating research on various information service issues and developing appropriate interventions;
- Responsible for management of finances and assets in the Division; as well as human resource training and deployment;
- Coordinating with Commission officials in the management of media interview schedules;
- Responsible for performance Planning and Review process within the unit; and
- Initiate the establishment of a platform and a framework for acquiring,
- storing accessing and sharing knowledge.
Operational Responsibilities
- Provision of advice to the Commission leadership on the best media practices;
- Undertake the coordination of the Commission’s public functions and corporate events;
- Liaise with media practitioners and the public on issues of mutual concern to ensure only relevant information is disseminated;
- Design, innovate and recommend corporate materials for building Commission brand;
- Build and maintain consistent branding, corporate identity across
- relevant public relations channels and keep the Commission up to date on best practices
- Monitoring implementation of policies, programs and directives through Collection and dissemination of Information;
- Identifying events that require packaging and dissemination to the media;
- Reviewing media briefs, supplements, documentaries and features;
- Coordinate the development, preparation, implementation and monitoring the budget for the unit;
Requirements for appointment
- Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communication Studies, International Relations, Public Relations, Mass Communication or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communication Studies, International Relations, Public Relations, Mass Communication or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Current Membership of Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK);
- Postgraduate diploma (Mass Communication);
- Have a certificate in a senior management course from a recognized institution
- Ten (10) years of service, of which three (3) should be in a comparable position from a reputable organization; and
- Meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya
