    Assistant Manager Reconciliations

    Key Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Ensure an accurate and timely month-end close process; review balance sheet reconciliations, troubleshoot, follow-up on outstanding items on Nostro accounts, and Bank’s General Ledger
    • Provide critical input for technical accounting and policy guidelines on system implementation projects in bank accounts and the reporting of balances due from banks in the financial statements
    • Supervise the investigation and follow up of all outstanding items on bank reconciliation statements with responsible persons and various organization units
    • Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure adherence to processes
    • Supervise and analytically identify old and irrecoverable amounts on bank reconciliation and advise how best to resolve them
    • Reconciliation of all the Bank nostro accounts
    • Verify the reliability and accuracy of bank balances in the general ledger and trial balance
    • Work with operations to ensure that the business works follows Bank operational and reconciliation processes.
    • Lead the analysis of the existing reconciliation processes to assess the strength of the controls and identify areas for improvement
    • Prepare and organize supporting documentation for reconciliations
    • Escalate significant discrepancies to the CFO
    • Ensure that suspense items do not exceed the established timeline designated for each type of exception

    Key Competencies:

    Demonstrated knowledge and experience with;

    • Over five years of relevant working experience in a reconciliation role in a Finance department in a Bank
    • An in-depth understanding of Banking systems
    • An in-depth understanding of reconciliation and reporting requirements
    • Ability to interact with Top Management
    • Good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • An individual who has demonstrated competences for accuracy, attention to detail, integrity, and update knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards

    Qualifications /Technical Skills Required:

    • Business related degree i.e. finance, accounting, commerce
    • Professional qualification in Accounting & Finance like ACCA/CPA
    • A self-motivated, innovative, confident, and analytical individual
    • Dynamic and self-driven individual with the ability to work under pressure
    • Excellent writing skills, and ability to explain technical accounting issues to subordinates and colleagues
    • Good presentation skills and an ability communicate and write effectively
    • Proficiency in MS Office and other Database Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access/Database)
