Operations Manager at Mombo Sacco

Location: Highway Heights along Marcus Garvey Road, Kilimani, Nairobi, Kenya

Overview:

Mombo Sacco is seeking an experienced and strategic Operations Manager to lead and supervise our team of Relationship Officers and Loan Collection Officers. The primary objective of this role is to drive growth in our membership, expand the savings and loan portfolios, and efficiently reduce bad debt through effective operational management and collaboration across teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership and Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate Relationship Officers and Loan Collection Officers to achieve operational goals.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss performance, challenges, and strategic improvements.
• Membership and Savings Growth:
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to increase membership and enhance member engagement.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute campaigns promoting membership and savings growth.
  • Assess and promote operational innovations tailored to member needs and preferences.
• Loan Book Operations:
  • Oversee loan origination processes to ensure compliance with operational policies and risk management.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Officers to increase the loan book through efficient and responsible lending operations.
• Debt Collection and Reduction:
  • Develop and implement operational strategies for effective debt collection aimed at minimizing bad debt.
  • Monitor and analyze the loan portfolio to identify risk areas and address them proactively.
  • Collaborate with Loan Collection Officers to streamline operational collection efforts and optimize recovery rates.
• Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare regular reports on membership growth, savings and loan book status, and debt collection progress from an operational perspective.
  • Use data analytics to identify operational trends, challenges, and opportunities, offering insights for strategic decision-making.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Cultivate strong relationships with existing and potential members through excellent operational support and service.
  • Engage with stakeholders to enhance collaboration and develop initiatives that support the cooperative’s operational goals.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Foster a culture of continuous operational improvement and learning within the team.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and operational practices to ensure the cooperative remains competitive and innovative.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience in operations, relationship management, and debt collection, preferably within a financial institution or Sacco environment.
• Strong leadership and operational management skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Analytical mindset with experience in data-driven decision-making within operations.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing operational environments
