    Pathfinder Coordinator

    Programme Introduction

    Pathfinder is an integrated programme linking market-informed career counselling, post-secondary education and training, life skills coaching, job placement, and mentoring. It targets people living in or affected by displacement who may not have completed secondary education. Pathfinder aims to improve participants and their families’ quality of life by increasing meaningful employment, small enterprise development or pathways to further study.

    Job Purpose

    The Pathfinder Coordinator manages and oversees the different activities that comprise the project, coordinating different inputs, and ensuring smooth linkages between activities. S/he reports directly to the Programmes Director, works closely with relevant Project Directors, and ensures that key deliverables of Pathfinder are met. S/he consults with participants and staff to find solutions to emerging performance and design issues.

    Profile

    This is a senior management position for a professional, with leadership and administrative skills and experience, and a solution focus.

    Major Responsibilities

    The Pathfinder Coordinator will:

    • Lead and motivate the project team to provide all Pathfinder services efficiently, ensuring smooth linkages and coordination between different phases and activities.
    • Ensure overall progress of the project towards its outcomes and deliverables and, in consultation with staff and beneficiaries, monitor, and explore and find solutions to issues as they arise.
    • Manage the project budget ensuring performance-to-budget and dealing with issues as they arise.
    • Work cooperatively with other project staff and relevant personnel.
    • Ensure appropriate student recruitment strategies and selection.
    • With Human Resources Officers and Country Director, ensure appropriate staff coverage and training in necessary skills and in the Pathfinder approach.
    • With the academic or education coordinator, ensure maintenance of academic standards and fulfilment of learning outcomes recording student progress.
    • Ensure MEAL is being carried out comprehensively and effectively.
    • Initiate project team meetings.
    • Ensure and model project compliance with all policies, procedures, and protocols of JRS.

    Qualifications and Competences

    • Minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in humanitarian or development management with management skills, capabilities and demonstrated operational history of adaptive management;
    • Bachelor’s degree in management, development, or related fields of study; or equivalent work experience;
    • Ability to transfer knowledge and train staff in Pathfinder methodologies and philosophy.
    • Demonstrated success in managing a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural staff;
    • Solutions focused self-starter with proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage own time effectively;
    • Ability to use appropriate tools to organise and run meetings, plan work trajectories
    • Operational fluency in English or French and local language
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

    Working Environment

    A combination of standard office environment and ‘field’ time in and around the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities;

    Languages

    • Excellent proficiency in written and verbal English; a professional working knowledge of a language spoken in the country is desirable. Knowledge of French and Arabic an added advantage.
