    PR & Marketing Manager

    Job Purpose

    Enhance brand reputation through creation of comprehensive marketing strategies and stakeholder management while overseeing, coordinating and implementing key product development and Marketing strategies to grow the Bank’s equity and market share.

    Responsibilities and Accountabilities

    Brand positioning

    • Manage the PR strategy to maintain the bank’s reputation through PR stories, in mainstream media.
    • Seeking thought leadership opportunities.

    Bank sponsorships

    • Source, manage and evaluate sponsorship opportunities in line with the Bank’s strategy.

    Strategic partnerships and alliances

    • Secure and maintain strategic key partnerships for the Bank in line with strategic objective and direction.

    Community Initiatives and Engagements

    • Manage Bank Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives to achieve brand awareness and achieve community impact in line with Corporate Social Responsibility Pillars.

    Product Equipment Rate

    • Support business initiatives on product awareness and usage through client communication.

    Manage Marketing Budget

    Create annual marketing budget

    • Monitor actual marketing spend vs budget

    Staff Engagement

    • Internal staff communication and engagement campaigns to achieve brand loyalty and advocacy (net promoter score)

    Staff Product Knowledge

    • Oversee product communication and awareness.
    • Product Governance – Product Development Committee Meetings

    Oversee the management of digital channels

    • Oversee digital marketing

    Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with the Bank’s policies & procedures,
    • Maintain effective training programs within the bank

    People management

    • Provide leadership, development and coaching to the department to ensure better performance and succession planning
    • Leave management

    Key Performance Indicators

    • Monitor Marketing Expenditure against Budget – threshold below 85%
    • Brand positioning through 24 PR stories in mainstream and digital media
    • Bank Sponsorships and Growth measured by number or value of sales leads generated
    • Community initiatives and Engagements (CSR) measured by level of impact/ reach for every Ksh. 100 spent
    • Equipment Rate by measuring products per customer.
    • The number of strategic alliances and Partnerships entered.
    • Reputation Risk- the number of shortfalls per quarter
    • Audit rating of Marketing department/ unit measured by compliance score
    • Staff brand loyalty measured by the Net promoter score
    • Achieve average score of 95% on staff Product and Service Knowledge
    • Achieve 98% utilization of Department leave days.

    Minimum Rexquirements

    • Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Banking or related field.
    • Post Graduate (Masters) as an added advantage
    • Membership to a Professional body i.e. Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK), Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    • 5 years’ experience in Financial Industry
    • Track record in Marketing, Product Development or Retail Banking
    • Excellent understanding of Strategy and Communication.

    Competencies and Attributes

    • Strong strategic and conceptual skills- Coordinate the planning, organizing and execution of the Bank’s events such as corporate events, CSR and social events, Trade fairs, exhibitions etc
    • Strong verbal/oral and written communication skills- with ability to handle internal communications (e.g., newsletters, intranet)
    • Leadership and Team management skills- With ability to oversee and lead the Marketing Department performance against the strategic plans, clearly identifying performance gaps and supporting Business teams to put in place plans to address gaps and commercial opportunities in the market.
    • Good business acumen and marketing skills
    • Networking skills, tact and diplomacy; with ability to influence key people inside and outside the Bank such as the media and other stake holders.
