    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Coordinating timely and accurate transcription of House and Committee sittings;
    • Guiding on implementation of Departmental initiatives, projects and programs.
    • Developing and maintain policies, rules, standards and procedures governing Hansard production.
    • Providing appropriate advice on matters relating to the Hansard Department of County Assembly;
    • Supervising Hansard reporters;
    • Recording transcribing and translate proceedings of the County Assembly and the Committees.
    • Organizing verbatim reporting of County Assembly proceedings and those of relevant Committees and functions within or outside County Assembly.
    • Performing initial editing of prepared transcripts with emphasis on grammar, syntax, style and consistency.
    • Sorting and checking transcripts from Hansard Reporters and making amendments as necessary.
    • Assisting in classification, custody, archiving, retrieval and cross-checking of documents against references.
    • Searching for fresh information and facts by consulting appropriate sources of information. assisting in preliminary editorial work with emphasis on grammar, syntax, style and consistency;
    • Assisting in production of the Official Report of Assembly debates also known as Hansard Report;
    • Providing interpretation and translation services
    • Supporting the live broadcasting of House and Committee proceedings through the Assembly Broadcasting Unit (ABU).

    Requirements for appointment

    • Have at least three (3) years relevant work experience, in a comparable position
    • Bachelor’s Degree in in any of the following disciplines; - Mass Communication, Journalism, Linguistics, majoring i n English and K i s w a h i l i or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;

    In addition, all applicants should submit clearance from the Criminal Investigations Department as part of compliance with Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya; a certificate or a receipt from the CID indicating that one is awaiting the certificate of good conduct will suffice.
