    Radiographer- Sonographer

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform approved ultrasound, X-ray, CT, portable and theatre imaging examinations safely and to diagnostic standard.
    • Review the request, clinical indication and patient preparation: clarify incomplete or unsafe requests before proceeding.
    • Use at least two patient identifiers and confirm the correct examination, body part and laterality before imaging.
    • Assess pain, mobility, falls risk, pregnancy status, allergies and other safety concerns; communicate realistic waiting and report times.
    • Actively monitor the live queue, coordinate CT/X-ray/ultrasound/theatre demand and communicate delays to reception, wards, emergency and clinicians.
    • Complete and sign opening, closing, cleaning and manufacturer-required QC checks.
    • Detect image artefacts, performance deviations and safety defects; make the area safe, label or isolate unsafe equipment and report faults during the same shift.
    • .Participate constructively in huddles, audits, incident reviews, departmental meetings, SOP implementation and service-improvement projects.
    • Work collaboratively with the radiologist, Radiographer-in-Charge, medical secretary, nurses, clinicians, theatre staff, biomedical engineering and management.
    • Provide reliable shift, weekend, on-call and theatre coverage according to roster and notify management early of foreseeable absence.
    • Carry out other reasonable duties within professional scope and verified competence as assigned by the authorised supervisor

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Diploma or bachelor's degree in Medical Imaging Sciences, Diagnostic Radiography or an equivalent recognised qualification.
    • Registered and licensed to practise by the Radiographers Board of Kenya, with a valid annual practising certificate.
    • Documented competency in diagnostic ultrasound.
    • At least 3 years' post-qualification clinical experience, including substantial hands-on ultrasound practice and experience in digital radiography.
    • Current Basic Life Support certification.
    • Competence in HMIS/RIS/PACS workflows, patient-data verification, image labelling, archiving, report tracking and downtime documentation.
    • Demonstrated integrity, punctuality, respectful conduct, confidentiality. teamwork and willingness to work shifts, on-call or theatre duties as rostered.
