    Regional Nurse Lead (Equity Afia)

    Description

    Since inception in 2015, Equity Afia has established over 100 primary healthcare centres located in 39 counties across Kenya under the umbrella of the Equity Group Foundation. Its vision is to champion affordable and accessible healthcare in Africa and its mission is to provide access to inclusive quality healthcare and health financing to enable people lead productive lives. Equity Afia operates through a Franchise model and the current clinics are owned and managed by doctors.

    The Head office team is looking to onboard visionary, enthusiastic and innovative individuals to join the team.

    Position Overview:

    The Regional Nurse Leads will coordinate quality, patient safety and regulatory initiatives and programs for the nursing section to maintain a systematic continuous team-based approach to quality and compliance within the network.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust quality management system for the nursing section, in compliance with  relevant regulations and guidelines.
    • With supervision from the Nursing Services Manager, develop and implement a formal clinical quality and patient safety program.
    • Drive the development and implementation of comprehensive care strategies, initiatives and programs that will lead to the achievement of quality patient care and growth.
    • Relationship Management with nursing accrediting and regulatory bodies to enhance partnership and collaboration.
    • Perform risk assessments to identify potential quality issues and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Participates in budget development.
    • Support the procurement processes of nursing clinical items for the medical centres.
    • Conduct internal and external controls to monitor the performance of the nursing section and take prompt action to maintain quality service.
    • Audit compliance as per approved checklist and report to the Nursing Services Manager any unfavorable trends in unmet indicators for timely remedial action.
    • Identify good practices within the nursing units and recommend them for recognition.
    • Lead Equity Afia clinics in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementation of preventive/ corrective actions.
    • Monitor the implementation of safety program in the department.
    • Identify & leverage on opportunities for continuous quality improvement and process reengineering to optimize operational efficiency and patient care at the Equity Afia facilities.
    • In liaison with the HR department, participate in identifying suitable nursing candidates for employment.
    • Orient new employees on approved nursing standard operating procedures and processes.
    • Supervise, mentor and develop nursing staff and trainees in patient care, ensuring that their performance meets The Equity Afia standards of care as per the standard operating procedures.
    • Participate in the identification of training needs for self and junior staff and ensure participation of the trainings.
    • Conduct competence-based assessments and performance appraisals for the nursing team as per the EQA HR Policy guidelines. 

    Qualifications

    • Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
    • At least three (3) years clinical practice experience.
    • Membership and duly licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • Training in healthcare quality management preferred.
    • Process Management: Experience in basic process management tools and techniques required
    • MS Office proficiency, very good data analytical, presentation & report writing skills
    • In-depth understanding of good clinical practice requirements.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Good leadership/people/ team skills
    • Ability to manage own workload and prioritize effectively.
    • Effective time management and organizational skills
