Request For Proposal (RFP) For Development Of TVET Mobile App, Integration Of Mobile App To KAM TVET Jobsite And Maintenance Of The KAM TVET Mobile App at Kenya Association of Manufacturers

CURRENT SITUATION

KAM’s TVET program seeks to provide our members with skilled technical labor. KAM has partnered with various technical training institutions, and with funding from donors is able to provide matching services to young people within our membership for internship and jobs.  Young people spend most of their time on their mobile phones, for networking, training and job searches. KAM has had a web based jobsite that has had some good use by KAM members, and is seeking to strengthen this with the mobile app to increase traffic for young people who use app based solutions more regularly. Because apps are installed on smartphones and tablets they are always accessible, even if there is no Internet connection available.  
Such a mobile platform is expected to further enlarge KAM’s rich pool of online tools, and bring our results and achievement instantly to our members in a friendly and accessible manner.
 
OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTANCY

KAM seeks to engage a Consultant (Firm/Individual) to provide consultancy services to develop a Mobile and integrate a Mobile App to the TVET other interfaces such as TVET jobsite. To link young people to job opportunities under the TVET project. The consultant will be responsible to launch a multi-platform mobile application that is available to our Staff, Members, Partners and TVET graduates. This should support manufacturers to access quality, reliable and timely technical skills. The provision of both software and implementation services will be the responsibility of the successful bidder, subject to the satisfactory performance of the service provider during and after a competitive bidding process.
 
SCOPE OF SERVICES

While not exhaustive, the following basic requirements for the app have been identified (the list of features will be expanded based on the findings resulting from the ideation phase):

The mobile platform should be accessible on multiple platforms (Android and IOS platforms)

• Free and easy to download
• Training of KAM TVET staff on Mobile App use
• General information – TVET project general information, function dates, calendar of events etc
• Push Notifications – A free direct communication messaging link to TVET youth to send out training reminders, job alerts, urgent information, etc
• Effective “all-in-one” (phone, text, image) communication delivery tool – Effective delivery to members as most information about the association is at the touch of a button.
• Integration of the app to KAM’s existing jobsite to include job advertisements and online learning
• Galleries – showcase our latest pictures for events within the app
• Direct call dial - by TVET program youth to the TVET team via the app for any queries
• Integration of the mobile app with KAM’s existing SMS platform
• Location proximity to match graduates to employers
• Easy to use back office function to ensure real time change of content on the mobile app.
• Ability to perform analytics - including ease reports linked to Excel  

You are requested to submit a proposal for consulting services in respect of the above referenced subject. Your proposal could form the basis for a contract between your firm / institution and the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM).

2. Annex II: Terms of Reference (TOR), containing a description of KAM requirements for which these services are being sought.
