    Senior Manager – Customer Data Privacy

    • We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Senior Manager – Customer Data Privacy within Customer Privacy Department in Corporate Security Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Description

    Reporting to the HOD – Customer Privacy , the role holder will; 

    • Enhance data protection capacity across the organization in order to strengthen privacy by design. 
    • Define appropriate data protection and privacy policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate and delivers timely risk assessments and data protection KPI reporting for Safaricom Plc.
    • Develop and implements Data Protection compliance framework across stakeholders with applicable national and international laws and regulations pertaining to data protection and privacy.
    • Develop and rolls out appropriate training and awareness programmes to enforce a strong culture of data protection across stakeholders. 
    • Prepare regulatory engagement submissions referring to and collaborating with appropriate internal stakeholders

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with stakeholders to maintain records of Safaricom Plc’s data processing activities, in conjunction with subsidiary management 
    •  Provide advice and review compliance  to Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) requirements
    • Monitor data management procedures and compliance within Safaricom Plc 
    • Develop and share advice and guidelines for implementing privacy by design and privacy by default in all products and systems
    • Ensure all queries from data subjects seeking to exercise their rights are responded to within required timeframes 
    • Develop  and update detailed guidelines via data protection policies and define required contractual provisions to enforce data sharing obligations
    • Develop and implement annual training and awareness programmes for all stakeholders. 

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • A legal qualification is key for this role. Business or IT security degrees also considered.
    • Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E and ISO 27701 an added advantage
