    Social Worker

    Job Purpose

    • To support the Secondary department, ensuring all the Secondary-age children are admitted into the school, performing at an acceptable level, are healthy, and have a satisfactory home life, all jointly contributing to their Education success.

    Core Duties and Responsibilities

    School placement and child performance management

    • Support in ensuring that all secondary-age children receive an acceptable level of education by admission to a nominated school
    • Support in building a good relationship with all the high schools that the secondary-age children attend
    • Support in monitoring child performance versus school performance, ensuring the schools are supporting the improvement of child performance
    • Support in visiting every secondary school ensuring the children are well treated, and discussing performance levels following the predetermined schedule
    • Support in identification of high performing secondary age children, manage their performance effectively, ensuring they strive to achieve good pass marks in the final year results
    • Support in the identification of low-performing secondary-age children, support them in their education journey in collaboration with necessary school and teachers

    Child Management

    • Support in having oversight over the living conditions of all secondary-age children, highlighting and resolving situations that are detrimental to the school performance of the children
    • Support in monitoring all secondary-age children’s participation and performance in school and organization programs, monitoring progress, identifying and supporting high and low performers
    • Monitor child home life situation by regularly visiting homes following predetermined schedules and make assessments of home visits following established guidelines
    • Support in ensuring that every secondary-age child has a strong relationship with their sponsor, undertaking regular and meaningful correspondence

    Programs Management

    • Support in ensuring that every secondary-age child participates in all the programs offered by the organization by monitoring attendance at the Saturday program, Elimu Hub (Computer lab and Library), Summer camp, sexual reproductive health, mental health, life skills, and any other relevant program
    • Ensure the updating of the organization database (Salesforce) after every home and school visit and keep all information up to date (secondary school children records, letters to sponsors, school marks, children's progress, and any other important information
    • Compliance with all NRCF policies and procedures as implemented by the organization including child holistic management and HR policy
    • Participate in the monthly production of an accurate and timely secondary department report including a program participation report

    Qualifications

    • A diploma in Social work, Community development, or similar field
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Social work, Community development, or a similar field is an added advantage
    • Five years of work experience in Development work, in particular child and social development.
    • Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Salesforce

    Skills requirement

    • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships, ensuring mutual value and alignment with the organization’s goals.
    • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, adjusting communication style dependent upon whom the communication is with
    • Able to demonstrate sensitivity and understanding, providing proactive support when needed.
    • Approach challenges and or problems with a collaborative mindset, seeking solutions that benefit everyone
    • Be a team player, offering support and guidance as and when the need arises, even if it is outside the mandate of the secondary department
    • Ability to uphold the highest level of integrity and confidentiality
    • Driving skills will be an added advantage as occasional school visits will require travel.
