Strategy Manager at Old Mutual Kenya

Job Description

The Strategy Manager role will be responsible for strategic financial and business modeling for strategic initiatives, supporting strategic planning, implementation tracking, industry & competitive intelligence, and all reporting of a strategic nature.

Support Strategic Planning:

• Coordinate the strategic planning process for East African Business Units and facilitate the integration of plans into the consolidated plan.
• Develop models, frameworks, and templates to support and enhance the strategic planning process.
• Prepare strategic plans for engagements with Boards and the Center.
• Support in developing strategic deep dive areas to enhance the annual strategy development process.
• Provide input in preparing and managing the forecasting process (12 months rolling) to ensure appropriate targets are set, periodically reviewed and all parameters considered.
• Performs ad hoc strategic analysis and provides guidance on key issues facing the business or industry.

Perform financial and business modeling for strategic initiatives:

• Collates research and data pertaining to external environment.
• Analyses trends in business activities and strategic direction.
• Collects and manipulates data.
• Develops business models in support of strategy initiatives and constructs financial models in support of strategy process, strategic projects, scenario analysis or business case development.
• Develops a comprehensive strategic view of the insurance industry strategic landscape, including consumer trends, competitive intelligence, and emerging industry issues on a periodic basis.
• Analyses business for competitive analysis, mergers and acquisitions, new markets
• Develop business cases and feasibility studies to assess the various initiatives,

 Strategic Implementation tracking: 

• Track key strategic initiatives monthly and prepares a report on the same.
• Monitor and report on course correction measures and assess impact

Reporting:

• Prepares business reports on a monthly/quarterly basis focused on strategic priorities for consumption by senior management, the Centre and the Boards.

• 5+ Years experience in a progressive financial service sector, management consulting or Telco
• Strategic mindset with a demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively to solve complex business problems.
• Expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and Access

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial science, Accounting, Statistics, Finance or equivalent required
• Masters’ Degree, MBA, or equivalent will be an added advantage
