    Student Intern

    Qualifications
    It is a prerequisite that the applicant meets the requirements for student interns that are described on  the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website , and accepts the conditions mentioned there.

    In the assessment of candidates, emphasis will be placed on:

    • started higher education in social sciences, economics or legal subjects
    • relevant academic background and interest in foreign policy
    • knowledge of Kenyan and/or Somali politics, culture and society is an advantage
    • experience from or interest in aid/development cooperation is an advantage
    • personal initiative
    • analytical properties
    • good abilities for both collaboration and independent work
    • experience with social media and online publishing
    • very good written presentation skills in Norwegian
    • very good English skills (written and spoken)

    Scholarships and practical conditions

    • The traineeship lasts for six months, starting in September 2023.
    • The trainee scheme is unpaid, but the trainee receives a stipend which currently amounts to NOK 14,000 per month. The scholarship can be combined with support from Lånekassen. The intern must cover his own travel and living expenses, and is himself responsible for obtaining accommodation. 
    • Applicants must be prepared that changes in the Travel Council for Kenya may result in the offer of internships having to be withdrawn. Any expenses incurred prior to joining will not be covered in such situations.
