Superintending Engineer (Mechanical) at Kitui County

Requirements for appointment:

1. Served in the grade of Assistant Engineer I (Mechanical) for at least three (3) years;
2. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
3. Been registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
4. Current valid annual practicing license from the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
5. Corporate membership with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK);
6. Attended a Project Development and Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and
7. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Preparation of development plans, proposals and designs for new and improved workshop facilities;
2. Implementation of workshop development programmes;
3. Design of vehicle bodies, special purpose plant, vehicles and plant modifications and other items;
4. Preparation of requirements for procurement and replacement, overhaul, utilization, allocation and arrangement of the vehicle, plant, equipment and workshop tools;
5. Manpower development and training;
6. Preparation and submission of reports and returns;
7. Maintaining staff discipline and welfare;
8. Repair and maintenance of the mechanical machines and equipment;
9. Provision of transport services;
10. Submission of regular reports advising on spares;
11. Enforcement of quality;
12. Carrying out cost estimates of all repair work including work entrusted to outside contractors;
13. Submission of regular progress reports; and
14. Advising on spares holdings and on all matters connected with Maintenance and repairs of vehicles and plant.
15. Control and supervision of a transport office and fleet of vehicles in the ministry;
16. Advising and monitoring on servicing; and
17. Repairs, maintenance and disposal of vehicles, plant and equipment in the ministry.
