    Technology Transfer Officer-TAAT Maize Compact

    • The TAAT Maize Technology Transfer Officer will provide technical and administrative support to the implementation of the Maize Compact and ensure timely and high-quality delivery of activities, field data collection, and reporting.

    The duties and responsibilities of the TAAT Technology Transfer will include the following:

    • Support implementation of the Commodity Technology Delivery Compact (CTDC) of the Maize Value Chain and the development of all necessary submissions for approval by the TAAT Clearinghouse;
    • Support the implementation of the maize value chain activities in all target countries and participate in the monitoring of progress made towards achieving Maize compact and TAAT set goals;
    • Manage the TAAT Project schedules to ensure timely task completion of work plans, including meetings and workshops with stakeholders; Facilitate documentation and analysis of project data and preparation of technical reports and publications.
    • The Consultant should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related sciences from a recognized University, with at least 5 years of relevant technical and administrative experience in technology transfer to farmers, with hands-on experience in the deployment and commercialization of crops in Africa, including sound knowledge and experience in the maize value chain in Africa; ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment; conversant with donor report writing guidelines and in particular AfDB is desirable; fluency in written and spoken English and good working knowledge of French is desirable.
    • Knowledge and key competencies would include strong advocacy and communication skills including effective public relations, proven social media skills and ability to use information technology effectively as a tool and resource, strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritize work activities to meet TAAT Maize goals and objectives, strong diplomatic and negotiation skills and nimble to changing environments and relationships, good networking skills and ability to build and sustain relationships with key partners, ability to write/edit technical reports, impact stories and minutes of meetings, a good understanding of agricultural biotechnology social, political and regulatory environments, ability to build and sustain relationships with key constituents (donors, research institutions, media, government institutions, seed industry players, etc.), ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, high-level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including ability to build alliances and collaborative relationships with sensitivity to diversity, ability to maintain high standards of integrity; establish straightforward, productive relationships; treating individuals with fairness and respect.
    • The selected Consultant will be a member of the TAAT Maize Compact Team to be based in Kenya. and the assignment shall be for an initial period of one (1) year, subject to renewal with satisfactory performance. The assignment is expected to commence in July 2024.
