Theatre Services Assistant at The Kisumu National Polytechnic

Job Summary

An officer at this level will be responsible to the Senior Theatre ServicesAssistant in provision of services in the theatres.

Qualification and Experience

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (plain) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Certificate in Theatre Technician course or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Fulfilled with the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010

Responsibilities

• Assisting staff with the movement of patients within the operatingtheatre;
• Maintaining procedure room/operating theatre equipment so as to ensure a clean, safe and efficient environment for patients and staff;
• Ensuringoperatingroomtable is wiped down,floor clean, linen and rubbish removed at the conclusion of each procedure;
• Ensuring that the patient is positioned securely and safely on the operating table prior to surgery and on the patient trolley at the completion of surgery;
• Promoting patient safety at all times;
• Collecting and returning all necessary equipment for the procedure and patient safety;
• Cleaning of instruments/decontamination processes;
• Assembling of operating instruments/set;
• Wrapping items for sterilization;
• Storing of sterile sets and packs
• Issuing of sterile sets and packs to operating room staff and maintenance of records.
