Job Purpose

The job involves carrying out testing and analysis of water obtained from three main sources: groundwater, surface water (lakes, rivers, ponds, etc.), and drinking water. They ensure that the set quality standards and other compliance requirements are met in their area of operations.

Job Specifications​​​​​​​

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. The duties and responsibilities at this level entail: -

• Carrying out all water quality and pollution control activities;
• Carrying out water quality and pollution control analysis and prepare reports;
• Liaising with other institutions on water quality and pollution control;
• Maintenance of scientific instruments;
• Supervising, evaluating and co-ordinating laboratory work;
• Testing, standardization and development of laboratory working techniques and advising clients on possible remedial and correct uses of materials under test;
• Monitoring compliance of discharges to set national regulations and standard.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or any other equivalent from a recognized institution;
• Proficiency in computer applications.
