    Fundraising / Resource Mobilization Officer

    Resource Mobilization Officer responsible for building an increasingly diversified network of donors/partners as well as other philanthropic institution/individuals who believe in the vision and mission of Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) and provide funds, technical support and other forms of collaboration to meet current and future needs of KeMU.
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To identify and approach potential individuals, groups and organizations that may raise funds for the development of the University.
    • To take the lead in identifying funding opportunities, listing them and sharing the information with Director University Advancement & Marketing and other relevant groups in the University.
    • Develop and Implement resource mobilization strategies to achieve overall fundraising targets
    • To assist with funding proposal writing processes. This involves writing project and budget plan proposals and coordinating with the different sub-committees of University with the aim of Sometimes jointly submitting a project proposal.
    • To assist in developing a fund generation and resource mobilization Work plan and constantly follow-up the implementation of the plan .This involves designing and writing materials for communication with different prospective donors and agencies.
    • To assist in mobilizing non-financial resources from private sectors entities, individuals and corporate agencies.
    • To coordinate processing of agreements in connection with funding opportunities and ensure effective and timely follow-up in terms of submission of reports to the donors and grant renewal proposals.
    • To monitor donor reporting and grant expenditure deadlines; coordinate with Director University Advancement & Marketing and senior management of the University in responding to these deadlines while facilitating and participating in the preparation of quality financial and narrative reports to donors.
    • Provide effective coordination for the establishment of proposal development working groups with representatives from key stakeholder within and beyond KeMU
    • Establishing and broadening relations with the potential and existing donors;

    Required qualifications and experience:

    • Master’s degree in social sciences, humanities, development studies, human rights, political science or other relevant discipline
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a proven track record of resource mobilization and the creation of RM-oriented partnerships and stakeholder networks.
    • Experience in Grant proposal writing for fundraising and resource mobilization
    • High ethical and moral standards, integrity and professionalism
    • Proven leadership and project management skills with the ability to work with a diverse group of clients.
    • Excellent analytical skills with ability to prepare proposals, reports and concept papers to a high level of proficiency.

    Internal Audit Assistant

    Answering to the Internal Auditor, the Internal Audit Assistant will ensure the University resources are safeguarded and economically utilized by planning and completing financial audits, identifying inadequate, inefficient, or ineffective internal controls and recommending improvements.

    Duties and Responsibilities He/she will assist to:

    • Plan financial audits by understanding University objectives, structure, policies, processes, internal controls, and external regulations; identifying risk areas; preparing audit scope and objectives; preparing audit programs.
    • Assess compliance with relevant regulations and legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
    • Assess risks and internal controls by identifying areas of non-compliance, evaluating manual and automated (ERP) financial processes, identifying process weaknesses and inefficiencies as well as operational issues.
    • Verify assets and liabilities by comparing and analyzing items and collateral to documentation.
    • Complete audit paper work by documenting audit tests and findings.
    • Communicate audit progress and findings by providing information to management highlighting unresolved issues, reviewing working papers and preparing final audit reports.
    • Improve governance by recommending changes in management monitoring, assessment, and motivational practices, in the internal control structure, and in operating processes as well as identifying root causes.
    • Support external auditors by coordinating information requirements.
    • Provide financial control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
    • Contribute to team results by welcoming new and different work requirements and exploring new opportunities to add value to the University.

    Required qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or its equivalent
    • CPA (K) / ACCA and a member of ICPAK.
    • Experience in System Audit with qualifications of certification in information Systems Audit or equivalent
    • At least 2 years audit experience preferably in institution of higher learning
    • Strong business acumen and an ability to identify audit issues.
    • Strong analytical skills, team player, ability to multi-task, flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
    • Training in risk and/or fraud management is highly preferable.
    • Experience in fraud/risk management is an added advantage.

    Community Oral Health Officer

    The position is responsible for providing dental treatment and hygiene to prevent dental decay by examining, treating, cleaning patients’ teeth and providing education on how to care for teeth and gums, and the effects of diet on oral health. The successful candidate will be working with the dentist.

    Duties and Responsibilities:-

    • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment
    • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and tray setups for dental procedures
    • Conduct authorized dental procedures including cleaning and scaling
    • Maintain high quality oral health by providing oral health education, screening, preventive and clinical dental services and referrals.
    • Record medical and dental history of dental patients
    • Ensure availability of instruments, supplies and equipment for the department
    • Diagnose and treat common dental conditions and refer to dentist for further review
    • Analyze patients dental x-rays, evaluate history and review dental charting
    • Undertake general treatment and care for teeth and tissue problems using specified equipment and tools and establish dental hygiene procedures
    • Perform authorized dental procedures including cleaning teeth, removing plagues, replacing missing teeth, filling cavities, rebuilding of broken teeth and removing severely damaged teeth in a safe and sterile environment while providing quality dental experience during the procedure.

    Required qualifications and experience:-

    • Diploma in community oral health from a recognized institution
    • Minimum of at least TWO YEARS of verifiable professional experience
    • Registered by the Kenya Dental Technologist Board
    • Good communication and professional skills
    • Excellent computer skills

    Carpenter Artisan

    KeMU/ADM/OPR/5/11/2020

    Overall Duties Carpentry, masonry work, painting services, for the maintenance of University buildings

    Specific Duties

    • Maintain and repair carpentry, sanitary fittings in all University installations.
    • Fabricate and repair items used by various research departments for field and laboratory work.
    • Paint and refurbish office spaces and common areas
    • Assembles sturdy and well-constructed floorboards, skirting boards, window frames, doors, door linings, staircases, fitted furniture, cabinetry, shelving, and more
    • Incorporate fixtures like door handles and locks, cabinet handles, stairway railing, and other fixtures into design and implementation
    • Build temporary housings and supports for setting concrete (shuttering)
    • Craft furniture with fine detail work and/or utmost sturdiness and quality
    • Utilize skills in other related trades such as plumbing, roofing, bricklaying, painting, tiling, plastering, etc.
    • Participate in first fixing as well as second fixing work
    • Combine carpentry with joinery work
    • Repair and refurbishing of existing building work
    • Report to supervisor regarding work done and work in progress, and submit duly filled job cards after completion of jobs.

    Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

    • KCSE and Government Trade Test III in carpentry, masonry and Painting
    • 7 years proven experience in fitting & Joinery/carpenter
    • Proven experience in building maintenance.
    • Good knowledge of the English and Kiswahili languages both spoken and written.
    • Must be a team player, Meticulous, Artistic and creative.
    • Must have basic computer skills.
