    Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Coordinator

    Department: Faculty

    Experience : 5 years

    Reports to: IBDP Coordinator

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:  To ensure the complete and effective organisation and administration of Theory of Knowledge (TOK) in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

    individuals with exceptional leadership skills, who are already experienced in the relevant International Baccalaureate programmes, to take up the following roles:

    1. IBMYP Personal Project Coordinator
    2. IBDP Theory of Knowledge Coordinator

    Please read the job description before you apply for the position. Only those who meet the criterial set in the job description will be shortlisted for interviews.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    1. Introduce students to the TOK process.
    2. Enable students to consult the appropriate subject guide to check that their learning complies with the general requirements of TOK.
    3. Ensure that students are aware of and understand the concept of academic Integrity in the context of the TOK process.
    4. Collaborate with the Librarian to ensure that the IBDP students have been trained in study and referencing skills— and if need be run sessions in researching and study
    5. skills in conjunction with the resource centre personel.
    6. Work with TOK teachers and supervisors to ensure they have a shared understanding of the responsibilities of a an IBDP educator and supervisor.
    7. Plan schedules for the three mandatory reflection sessions, followed by students completing the required section of the RPPF.
    8. Ensure that there is a TOK timeline at the beginning of DP year 1, with clear internal deadlines and agreed processes for referral and support if needed.
    9. Ensure that the chief librarian is fully included in the process, to support students as and when required.
    10. Ensure that there is a Shared understanding between TOK supervisors and students.
    11. Ensure that the DP students are furnished with the latest TOK guide and Assessment Criteria, including expectations for the TOK exhibition.
    12. Provide organizational structures that allow for three mandatory supervision (reflection) sessions.
    13. Introduce, explain and support the reflection process and provide supervisors and students with the general and subject-specific information on TOK.
    14. Ensure that the RPPF is completed and signed by the student and supervisor and submitted to the IB with the essay for assessment.
    15. Ensure that legal guardians and candidates understand the TOK assessment requirements of the DP.
    16. Liaise with the DPC in the administration, procedures and the requirements in conduct of TOK among staff and students as stipulated in the new TOK Guide.
    17. Supervise DP TOK Essay supervision and students’ exhibition.
    18. Demonstrate the ability to effectively use technology as a tool for planning and implementing instructional strategies.
    19. Be detail-oriented, self-motivated, inspirational, and model high standards of academic integrity.
    20. Should be able to lead relevant collaborative planning and reflection sessions, ensuring faculty are well guided in understanding the connections between TOK and
    21. subject-specific disciplines.
    22. Classroom Organization
    23. Organize a safe learning environment for all students
    24. Provide and maintain a purposeful Learning environment modeled upon constructivism.
    25. Demonstrate a high level of commitment to student wellbeing.
    26. Ensure that his/her students exhibit a high standard of discipline and positive behavior in adherence to the Behavior for learning policy.
    27. The Executive Head may adjust the scope of duties and responsibilities at their discretion.

    Personal Project Coordinator

    Experience: 4 years

    Reports to: MYP Coordinator

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:  To support the MYP Coordinator in his/her role to ensure the complete and effective organisation and administration of Personal Project in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) and to effectively manage the Personal Projects Core Component of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Introduce students to the Personal Project process.
    • Enable students to consult the appropriate subject guide to check that their project area complies with the general requirements of the subject.
    • Ensure that students are aware of and understand the concept of academic integrity in the context of the PP process.
    • Collaborate with the Librarian to ensure that the MYP students have been trained in study and referencing skills— and if need be run sessions in researching and study

    • Supervises PP supervisors, providing guidance and support as need arise.
    • Demonstrate the ability to effectively use technology as a tool for planning and implementing instructional strategies.
    • Be detailed-oriented, self-motivated, inspirational and patient.
    • Work closely with MYP Coordinator to create Personal Project timelines.
    • Plan and deliver orientation seminars on Personal Project for current MYP 4&5 students and teachers.
    • Emphasis on ATLs and ATTs respectively.
    • Arrange for various sessions with MYP 4 & 5 students throughout the Personal Project calendar
    • Be responsible for effective implementation of the Personal Project including service inductions for all teachers and ensuring that MYP students are familiar with Global
    • Contexts and the accompanying strands.
    •  Guide supervisors through the marking and standardization of PP.
    • Organize the Personal Project Exhibition to showcase students’ projects
    • Embed a bespoke ICT program in the management and execution.
    • The Executive Head may adjust the scope of duties and responsibilities at their discretion.

    Cook

    Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Assist in development and provision of a well-balanced menu and timely preparation and serving of meals
    2. Responsible for production of safe, quality and tasty foods and beverages.
    3. Ensure that food is requested according to the number of students and staff in the academy and that there is no wastage of food.
    4. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and the highest standard of hygiene in food handling and in the work area in line with the public health regulations on food safety.
    5. Taking care of catering equipment and utensils by taking regular inventories and reporting any loss or breakage of items.
    6. Ensure that the kitchen is locked and keys kept safely upon closure.
    7. Cook is expected to be flexible, from time to time he/she may be added task in line with their role by their direct manager.

    Person’s Specifications

    1. Diploma of equivalent in food preparation from a recognized institution
    2. At least 3 years’ experience as a cook in a comparable institution

    Terms of engagement

    Kitchen Steward

    (KST/07/2021) 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Cleaning fixed equipment (fridges, ovens, hood extractors among other equipment’s in the kitchen) and stores.
    • Cleaning and storing cooking and service equipment (pots, pans, trays, trolleys, cutlery, crockery etc)
    • Collecting of ordered food items from the stores to the preparation areas.
    • Set up service equipment for food and beverage services at designated points.
    • Polish cookware, all surfaces and keep the wash area organised.
    • Loading and unloading water dispensers and cleaning them.
    • Help with special and deep cleaning projects
    • Store foodstuff after receiving appropriately.
    • Maintaining cleanliness of kitchen walls and wash area floors.
    • Remove all breakages and cracked items from circulation.
    • Giving assistance in serving food and drinks to students and staff.

    Person’s Specifications

    1. Certificate in Cleaning and sanitation training from a recognized institution.
    2. At least 2 years’ experience working in a comparable institution.
