    Community Program Officer

    Job Scope: The Community Program Officer is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating community programs for the Mathare community. 

    Duties and Responsibilities 

    Research and develop community programs 

    • Assess the program needs with the community and identify areas where new programs are needed
    • Communicate with the community to determine their needs and interests
    • Ensure a variety of programs and activities are planned and implemented
    • Document and report on program progress 

    Plan and implement community activities 

    • Develop plans of work for the various community programs
    • Oversee the implementation of the community program activities
    • Recruit and expand the beneficiaries’ base for the community and market the activities undertaken
    • Offer strategic direction and oversight for Ghetto Mirror- a monthly community magazine produced by the youth
    • Recruit, train and oversee different community program team lead members
    • Encourage local community to participate in local, regional and national programs

    Promote community programs 

    • Ensure that community are aware of available activities
    • Coordinate a community relations campaign to promote community  programs
    • Arrange for advertising of community programs
    • Maintain contacts with local, regional and territorial organizations 

    Qualification 

    • A degree in development students, program management or community development
    • 3 years experience in management of community programs
    • Experience in working in informal settlements especially the youth
    • Good communication skills and conflict resolution skills
    • Self-motivated, innovative and self-directed
    • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Must be a computer literate

    Clinic Social Worker

    Location: Mathare 

    Reports: Clinic coordinator

    Hours: Monday- Friday, 8am to 5pm and Two Saturdays a month

    Main Purpose of the job: To offer quality care to all clients / patients seeking healthcare services through psychological support to both the client / patient and the family, in order to achieve organization objectives

    Duties and Responsibilities 

    • Provide mental health screenings and initial assessments to clients.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with the primary care providers to improve health outcomes.
    • Use knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, and community to intervene for client’s success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention and response, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, consultation, program development, and coordination of home and community services.
    • Provide crisis intervention when needed.
    • Preparing of socio-psychiatric history information, psychosocial assessment, and social work treatment plans for use in pre-admission screening and diagnosis.
    • Develop long-term and short-term intervention plans consistent with the client’s needs, strengths, diversity and life experiences; and social and emotional factors.
    • Use a variety of appropriate formal and informal tools and techniques including observations and interviews to evaluate the progress and performance of clients and families.
    • Investigate child abuse or neglect cases and take authorized protective action when necessary.
    • Refer patient, client, or family to community resources to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness and to provide access to services such as financial assistance, legal aid, housing, job placement or education.
    • Counsel clients and patients in individual and group sessions to help them overcome dependencies, recover from illness, and adjust to life.
    • Organize support groups or counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting the client or patient.
    • Maintain accurate and timely client records of activities, case management notes and prepare verbal and written reports related to the clients.
    • Participate in mobilizing resources in the community, maintaining positive working relationships with the community stakeholders.
    • Facilitate linkage of clients to other specialized programs for support/further management
    • Participate in workshops, meetings and conferences. 

    Qualification 

    • Diploma/Degree in Social Work Development or related course
    • At least 2 years post college working experience
    • Good writing, interpersonal and communication skills
    • Problem solving skills
    • Organizational and mobilization skills
    • Good computer skills
    • Flexibility to work in a dynamic set up

    Clinical Officer

    Location: Mathare 

    Reports to: Clinic coordinator 

    Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am to 4pm, and two Saturdays a month 

    Duties and Responsibilities 

    • Clerking, examination, diagnosing and treatment of patients;
    • Prescription of medications;
    • Maintaining and reviewing patient records, charts and other pertinent information;
    • Maintaining patient confidentiality;
    • Responding to enquiries relating to patients, lab requests, x-rays, prescription requests, etc.;
    • Coordinating appointments for specialist referrals, x-rays lab testing, etc and conveying pertinent instructions and information to the patient;
    • Attending to CCC patients and managing opportunistic infections;
    • Conducting continuous medical education and health educations as may be required
    • Work as a team member with staff of other cadres in ensuring quality service provision
    • Being accountable for any equipment assigned and reporting to the line manager as may be required.
    • Performing other related duties within the clinic as may be assigned. 

    Mandatory Requirements 

    • Registered clinical officer preferably trained at KMTC
    • 2 years’ experience in a busy health facility
    • Current Practicing license is mandatory 

    Qualification 

    • Basic HIV training / experience will be an added advantage

    M&E Coordinator

    Reports to: Program Manager and M&E Manager 

    Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8.00am -5.00pm 

    Responsibilities: 

    • Ensure timely monitoring of the implementation of the program activities in accordance with SHOFCO, M&E systems and procedures.
    • Plan and coordinate the implementation of project grant monitoring activities
    • Prepare and regularly update the M&E monitoring framework for the site.
    • Prepare and regularly update grant M&E field visit schedules in direct collaboration with the respective departments
    • Participate in field monitoring visits. Follow-up with the departments on relevant recommendations.
    • Prepare monthly M& E site update report,  regular project reports and analysis as required and Produce different analytical tables corresponding to reporting and M&E requirements
    • Ensure the timely collection of project M&E data (according to the tools and written reporting procedures) and
    • Verification of departmental reports and data.
    • Provide training /support to program officer’s coordinators and other M&E staff in the area of monitoring and evaluation/report writing in the site.
    • Administer all databases used in M&E of the project (data base on clients, health goods, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
    • Assist in the regular collection of results for the project process indicators, with participation of management and relevant staff.
    • Provide necessary inputs for the financial and programmatic reports, communication materials as may be required by management.
    • Accurate and timely reporting to the M&E manager technically and administratively to the Program Manager Mathare site.
    • Provide information and documentation on specific stages of projects/programme implementation
    • Document and track innovative strategies/best practices/new approaches
    • Lead development of quality assurance systems for the project to ensure data quality.
    • Ensure appropriate data collection tools and systems are in place and are being used correctly by staff and partners to collect required and accurate data for performance, monitoring and evaluation.
    • Identify M&E technical assistance (TA) needs of departments, facilities and provide/organize TA through training, mentorship, and/or on-site supervision with support from the Program Manager.
    • Participate in program monitoring visits/forums with other project staff as necessary.
    • Perform other duties as required by Program Manager 

    Persons Specification 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, statistics, demography, development or health related subjects, or equivalent standard of education.
    • Strong Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation skills
    • Strong command of computer software applications, including database experience 

    Qualifications 

    • Minimum 3 years experience gained in programmed management monitoring, including programme monitoring and evaluation, operational research, community development work and capacity building
    • Working knowledge of Global Fund, USAID programs and other donor funded program
    • Experience of developing and using management information systems
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage team
    • Excellent training and facilitation skills
    • Excellent written, analytical, presentation and reporting skills
    • Proven ability to collect and analyses of key outputs and outcome of data using excel, SPSS, STATA, Open MRS, Salesforce
