    Branch Manager- Nakuru

    KEY PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Building and strengthening business relationships with existing and prospective clients to achieve performance targets; 
    • Developing and constantly updating underwriting service standards and manuals in line with the customer service charter; 
    • Achieving branch service standards within set turnaround times; 
    • Managing the business portfolio through prudent underwriting in order to achieve the targeted business mix and loss ratio; 
    • Managing outstanding premium as per the credit control policy; 
    • Managing the implementation of internal and external audit and risk recommendations within the agreed timelines; 
    • Exploring opportunities presented by the market and developing innovative products and solutions that meet customer needs; 
    • Supervising unit managers (APA Life, APA Insurance and Apollo Asset) from the region; Complying with statutory, regulatory and internal control processes at the business units including internal and external audit recommendations; 
    • Developing departmental budget and business plans to achieve the set company targets; 
    • Entrenching performance based culture among departmental staff in line with their set KPIs and departmental targets; 
    • Participating in company CSR and brand building activities in liaison with the Head Office; 
    • Training, coaching and mentoring staff/DSFs/Independent Agents in order to improve performance and cohesion within the department; 
    • Implementing interdepartmental SLA in liaison with other departmental heads; 
    • Participating in management meetings, projects and committees as assigned. 

    ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance or an equivalent.

    Legal Officer

    KEY PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts including MOUs, service level agreements, leases, conveyancing documents, procurement/tender documentation, marketing, IT/technology (SAAS), vendor/supplier agreements, NDAs, and other commercial contracts.
    • Provide legal advisory and research on a broad range of issues including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and operational matters.
    • Prepare legal opinions to support internal departments across the Group in decision-making and risk assessment.
    • Receive and respond to legal notices, demand letters, statutory notices, and summons.
    • Handle litigation and legal claims, including subrogation, recovery matters, and third-party claims, and manage reserves.
    • Attend court and represent the company in proceedings where necessary, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
    • Track and manage the Group’s legal diary and ensure court attendance and timely filings.
    • Participate in development and implementation of legal risk mitigation strategies and initiatives.
    • Support the business in negotiating contracts and resolving commercial disputes.
    • Maintain legal registers, update case statuses, and monitor statutory compliance.
    • Provide training to staff on legal awareness, contracting procedures, and compliance topics.
    • Collaborate with the Legal Manager and senior management on legal matters impacting the Group.
    • Participate in CSR, brand-building initiatives, and interdepartmental SLAs as needed.
    • Reduction of legal and contractual risks to the Group through proactive legal support.
    • Timely and accurate legal advisory, contracts review, and claims/litigation management.
    • Any other assigned responsibilities.

    GENERIC DUTIES

    • Participate in company CSR and brand building activities in liaison with other departments;
    • Implement interdepartmental SLA in liaison with other departmental heads; and 

    ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Law or an equivalent.

    • At least 5 years’ relevant experience legal experience in an Insurance company or corporate or law firm environment, with a focus on contracts, legal advisory, and litigation support.

    Business Development Officer

    KEY PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Generate a pipeline and acquire NSSF Tier II pension business 
    • Liaise with Brokers, Independent Agents, Bancassurance, and APA agents to acquire an NSSF Tier II pension business 
    • Identify and provide NSSF Tier II solutions to client needs. 
    • Liaise with employers (HR and Finance) to set up retirement schemes. 
    • Participate in marketing drives geared towards pension acquisition and NSSF tier II opt-out business. 
    • Liaise with Associations and other partners in order to acquire NSSF Tier II pension business. 
    • Identify, organize, and train prospective employers on the need for pension and NSSF Tier II opt-out procedures. 
    • Preparing weekly and monthly reports giving details of individual performance on business acquired 

    ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
