    Cloud Network Engineer

    Detailed Description

    The position holder will provide technical expertise, design and support to Safaricom in the field of Call Center, local and wide area network administration.

     Responsibilities:

    • Advises on the communications requirements of installed and planned networked information systems.
    •  Carries out surveys to establish network connection requirements.
    •  Maintain system standards and procedures on network related issues and technically enforce the same.
    •  Correct and secure specification that meet business objectives
    •  Working with the Digital Engineering team on providing various cloud solutions and integrations. 
    •  Designing Amazon Web Services Solutions, Microsoft Azure solutions and integration to cloud native applications.
    •  Implementation, Configuration and support of the Safaricom voice platforms including the contact center and cisco call manger.
    •  Limited downtime, nil business disruption and correct change management.
    •  Ensuring system availability, neatness, change management and accommodation at all times.
    •  Monitors, administers and maintains network security, countermeasures for availability and safety.
    •  99.9% LAN availability target.
    •  Liaise with other departments to deliver cross team projects and harmonized IT operations in SFC. Provide input, expertise in projects that require IT Network infrastructure for expanding business areas to support retail outlets. Switch rooms and  new products and services
    •  Consistently meet project milestones dependent on IT and LAN/WAN connectivity.
    •  Uses network management tools to investigate, diagnose and resolve network problems within service level agreement tolerances, referring to network users, other staff, and suppliers as necessary. Respond to support issues and connectivity incidents for Safaricom's Corporate LANs, troubleshooting and IP Addressing and connectivity across the company.
    •  Time to fix system wide network problems not to exceed 15 minutes during office hours with no recurrence.
    •  All other problems to be resolved & escalated within agreed tolerances. Response must be acceptable to the business.
    •  Resolving and escalating if required of all tasks logged in IT service desk for networks team as per agreed SLA.
    •  Implements and administers the SFC internet connection, mail gateways and security.
    •  Target of 99.8% internet uptime, LAN, WAN, Data Center Network, Cloud Infrastructure.
    •  Response to support calls on data, telephone support and call center issues as backup for Telephone Services Team Leader.
    •  Requirement is 100% availability on the cisco Voice, Rich media and WebEx ecosystem.
    •  Documentation of network, network design hardware and software inventory.
    •  Have up to date and accurate network documentation. 100% Accuracy at all times.

    Qualifications/ Technical Skills 

    • Graduate/Degree BSc. In Comp. Sc,
    • Certified CISCO Engineer
    • Experience with different cloud provider technologies including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure.
    • A solid background in Linux/Unix and Windows server system administration
    • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and security requirements
    • Deep Knowledge of Voice Systems – call Manager, Genesys
    • Knowledge and integration of SIP and PSTN.
    • Managing, Configuring and Troubleshooting CISO Security Integrated Services Engine (ISE)
    • Managing configuring and Troubleshooting CISCO Security Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS)
    • Managing, Configuring and Troubleshooting Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco Firewalls and Web Authentication Firewalls.
    • Formal professional training or work experience in networking and communication technologies. Knowledge of a networking environment
    • Knowledge of Cisco IOS and proficiency in a wide range of networking LAN/WAN products and technologies
    • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired
    • Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency) and test for weaknesses
    • Knowledge of basic network architecture concepts (zones/DMZ, VLANs, segmentation, subnetting. LAN/WAN).
    • Basic understanding of dynamic routing protocols a plus.
    • Good working knowledge of basic firewall configuration concepts (ACL, NAT/PAT, routing statements, ports, protocols, VPNs
    • General exposure to firewalls, switches, routers, and other networking devices.

    UX Designer

    Brief Posting Description

    Reporting to the ux Designer Lead, the position holder will be responsible for the design and implementation of all the experiences a user has when interacting with M-PESA payment products and services. The UX lead will be domiciled in M-PESA Superapp squad working closely with customer journey experts across all payments Squads to ensure seamless product and services research, design and the successful implementation of Ux best practices and principles across all products and services. We are looking for a dynamic UX researcher and designer who will ensure that all elements of the user experience are optimized for improved usability, usefulness, and exceptional visual design. The successful candidate should demonstrate evidence a passion for delivering adaptive and creative solutions to Ux design problems by staying up to date with best practices and emerging trends in user experience design and user interface technology.

    Responsibilities

    • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers, engineers and other stakeholders.
    • Plan and conduct user research and, interpret data and qualitative feedback
    • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
    • Facilitate the Safaricom’s product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products.
    • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
    • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
    • Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
    • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
    • Ask smart questions, take risks and champion new ideas.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Three or more years of UX design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for complete digital environments.
    • Portfolio of UX design projects showcasing your process and project achievements.
    • Expertise in one or more UX software such as Adobe XD, Figma, InVision, Balsamiq, Zeplin and the like is a must.
    • Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions.
    • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
    • Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
    • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and other stakeholders.
    • A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design and design thinking.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.
    • Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders.
    • Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.
    • Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
    • Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.

    Enterprise Risk Manager

    Brief Posting Description

    Reporting to the HOD- Enterprise Risk Management the role holder will support the ERM function in the facilitation of Operational and Strategic risk assessments, conducting reviews on the implementation of risk mitigation action plans and preparing summary report of findings. To assist in the development and implementation of the new business risk management strategy that aligns and supports the organization’s strategy. Support implementation of the Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) solution across the organization. Facilitating ad hoc risk assessments as required.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Develop and Implement Strategic and Operational Risk Assessments plan on an annual basis.
    • Identify key stakeholders both internal & external that impact the delivery of the ERM Framework and ensure full alignment and engagement.
    • Keep abreast of all key ERM developments within the Telecommunication industry-locally, regionally and internationally.
    • To ensure potential new and emerging risks and threats are highlighted and reported to management on a quarterly basis.
    • Conduct on a regular basis operational risk assessment for projects, products, processes and any ad hoc assessment as requested by the business.
    • Work with the business to conduct Risk assessments and ensure the Risk owners follow through with the mitigations agreed in the GRC system
    • Collate companywide risk summary to be presented to Senior Management and Board Audit Committee
    • Plan and conduct appropriate Risk Management awareness initiatives across the business to ensure risk appreciation and upscale the risk culture.
    • Support the business in the implementation of the GRC solution through walkthrough sessions and refresher sessions as and when requested.
    • Support the business in adhoc risks assessments and offer risk advisory when needed
    • Identify opportunity areas for the business and give recommendations for implementation.
    • Supporting implementation of various ISO standards in the business that are risk based.
    • Supporting Safaricom subsidiaries in enterprise risk management.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Upper second-class degree in Business or Commerce from a recognized University
    • Risk Management certification – Cert IRM, Dip IRM, ISO 31000
    • Relevant post-graduate education is an added advantage
    • At least 5 years working experience in a risk management position.
    • Detailed knowledge of cross functional operations and impact of one department to another
    • Excellent report writing, interpersonal skills and presentation skills
