    Driver

    • The Planning, Finance & Economy Section (PFES) is responsible to support urban and territorial planning at all scales including through the development of planning policy, norms and guidelines, urban design and public space design, urban finance (municipal finance and urban development/projects finance), and local economic development. Reporting and Communication The Driver will be hired to collaborate closely with the Planning for Humanitarian-Development Practices workstream of PFES. He/she will be reporting to the team leads for the delivery of the EUTF programme. Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the team leads, the individual contractor will be responsible for the following duties: Report and deliver on driving functions, to support field activity implementation across EUTF programme, including logistical support for inter-city travel of team members to attend high level meetings and on site field visits.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Academic Qualification: Highschool diploma is required.
    • Work Experience: At least 1 years of relevant work experience in the field of driving services, field coordination is required. Experience working in Kakuma, Kenya is desirable.

    Languages

    • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this advertised position fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Swahili is required.

    Community Officer

    Urban Planner Specialist

    • The consultant will directly report to the PFES, Programme Management Officer and Coordinator of the Urban Lab Mexico.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop participatory workshops, training, and information materials related to ‘Our City Plans’. This could include capacity building to partnering cities on the implementation of Our City Plans on developing plans, guiding participatory urban planning processes, etc.
    • Provide technical support within the ISCB Project in Vietnam, producing spatial analysis, pilot projects advisory, policy recommendations and reports.
    • Provide planning and design inputs to ongoing planning initiatives, including citywide strategies, extension plans and urban transformation plans. This specifically refers to the Greater Abidjan and Vietnam Cities for which expert urban planning knowledge is required.
    • Develop clear project proposals related to West Africa including an urban planning and design component.
    • Provide inputs to guide or facilitate the delivery of relevant urban legislation reviews and financial mechanism in view of support for plan implementation and planning processes.
    • Take part in field missions as required.
    • Develop and organize participatory, multi-stakeholder processes tailor made for the projects in a specific context.
    • Develop the ROAF and PFES portfolio and joint project implementation, by focusing on the preparatory phase for implementing the 14M USD Adaptation Fund project approved for Ivory Coast and Ghana

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Academic Qualification: Minimum advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Architecture, Urban Planning, or related field that is relevant for sustainable urban development is required.
    • A first- level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Work Experience: Demonstrate at least 2 years of professional experience in the development of urban planning projects and urban regeneration initiatives, in collaboration with multidisciplinary work teams is required.
    • Knowledge of the 2030 Agenda, the New Urban Agenda, and/or UN-Habitat language is desirable.
    • International experience in the field of international cooperation for territorial and urban development is desirable. 
    • Work experience in the UN System is desirable.

    • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in oral and written English is required. Although not a requirement, knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, or Russian will be an advantage

    Urban Planner and Designer

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Under the overall supervision of the Head of the Urban Lab and the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, in coordination with the UN-Habitat Regional Offices and in close collaboration with UN-Habitat thematic Sections, the incumbent of the post will have to fulfil the following duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide technical expertise in relation to the Naryn project in Kyrgyzstan by developing strategic plan documents and urban design proposals in selected areas.
    • Provide technical expertise in relation to the Azerbaijan project by developing design proposals for the selected villages in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur Region.
    • Provide technical expertise in relation to the normative production of the My Neighbourhood guideline.
    • Develop training material and capacity reinforcement activities for urban design principles.
    • Provide technical inputs for programme development on sustainable neighbourhood design.
    • Provide technical expertise in relation to sustainable urban and regional development for Urban Lab projects.
    • Advise and work with the Urban Lab team to analyse, collect, compile and interpret data to guide and inform the urban planning and design projects.
    • Support and contribute to the development of methodologies and guidelines to be tested and implemented in the Urban Lab projects.
    • Develop planning analytic and diagnostic maps, drawings, and related reports for partner cities.
    • Develop clear planning proposals, drawings, and related reports for partner cities.
    • Develop and organise participatory, multi-stakeholder processes tailor-made for the projects in a specific context.
    • Provide input to Urban Lab and PFES documents and publications.
    • Support the technical development of country proposals and development frameworks.
    • Contribute to the development of the Urban Lab and PFES project portfolio on urban planning and design.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Academic Qualification: Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Architecture, Urban Development and Planning, or a related field. A first-level university degree, in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Work Experience: At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of sustainable development and spatial analysis (and/or related fields) with direct proven experience in drawing and preparing plan graphical material using computer-assisted design tools, with special attention to data management and processing with GIS software is required;
    • Direct proven experience of urban planning projects/processes, in combination with e.g. urban resilience, mobility, project finance, and/or data systems, is desirable; 
    • Proven experience in GIS software use, data analysis and map production is desirable

    Languages

    • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this advertised position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
