    Enterprise Architecture

    Job Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager IT Strategy and Architecture, the position holder's role will be to shape and drive end to end Architecture for IT for Safaricom, ensuring that our technology assets continuously evolve to deliver best customer experience, enable new rich services and meet future operational targets. This role requires a high caliber individual with strong strategic mindset, solid understanding of IT Architecture together with underlying IT infrastructure is a key imperative. The role holder should be inquisitive, always keeping abreast with emerging IT best practice. He / she should additionally have a track record of working effectively with a wide set of stakeholders on complex technology programs.

    Key Responsibilities;

    • Manage target architecture vision and roadmap in alignment with Safaricom strategy.
    • Design, develop and deploy Enterprise Architecture practices, standards, frameworks and patterns.
    • Test and onboard new technologies and suppliers to drive innovation and meet emerging business requirements.
    • Provide thought leadership on contextualization of global best practice for Safaricom Enterprise Architecture and IT strategy
    • Develop standards to guide Solution Architecture practice and other teams in day-to-day delivery.
    • Lead the evaluation and selection of hardware and software products
    • Develop and maintain the technology roadmap for assigned area, collaborating with business and IT partners to ensure that the roadmap creates business value with technically sound solutions.
    • Provide key inputs into financial management processes to align budget priorities with strategy and architecture

    Qualifications;

    • University degree in Information Technology or a telecommunications biased discipline.
    • Experience of leading development of complex technology strategies, architectures or roadmaps
    • Demonstrated experience implementing standard architecture and governance frameworks in a busy IT environment. TOGAF preferred.
    • Certification in leading Architecture frameworks will be added advantage. This may include TOGAF, CGEIT.
    • Good understanding of broad set of technologies used in IT.
    • At least 7 years’ experience working in a software engineering or planning role for BSS or OSS applications.
    • Demonstrated experience working within financial and supplier management processes.

    Enterprise Systems Developer

    Detailed Description

    • Reporting to the Manager - Enterprise Systems Planning & Delivery, the role holder will be responsible for development and 3rd line support of the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application, Oracle Point of Service and bespoke oracle interfaces and software components. 
    • He or she will work with other departments within the company to identify requirements and develop solutions (database design, workflows, user/data interfaces). 
    • The role holder will also configure and/or customize Oracle ERP applications to meet business requirements using various database and software tools, assist in presentations of system functionality to new users and departments and enhance and create user and system documentation as needed.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review and provide input on design approach, performance and base functionality. Ensure integration of designs across development team and design, build & test ERP components e.g. interface, conversion and report programs;
    • Appropriately monitor interfaces to oracle ERP. Provide training and support on oracle ERP modules and development tools, review & interpret technical manuals for the Oracle ERP system and assist in creating/update Oracle TAR’s;
    • Ensures the effectiveness of overall systems performance;
    • Design and develop front-end tier(s), middle tier(s), and /or back-end database tier(s) for business applications;
    • Participate in the capturing of business applications information needs and mapping of the same to the software and /or database components;
    • Perform data modeling to analyze and specify data structures within an application system;
    • Support new and existing application development by creating modifications and enhancements for Oracle ERP applications and perform high level system design;
    • Conduct business user requirements analysis and specification;
    • Specify computer system requirements for the solution of complex business problems and formulates designs for their solutions;
    • Perform the necessary technical design and development functionality to ensure that business application systems can be effectively developed and implemented;
    • Interact with clients to gather and refine requirements;
    • Create test plans, test data sets and perform automated testing to ensure all components of the developed systems meet specifications;
    • Work directly with the IT support personnel and teams to resolve issues identified and escalated during daily operations;
    • Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents;
    • Formalize test plans and implement troubleshooting procedures.

    Manager- ERP Development Team

    Detailed Description 

    Reporting to the Corporate Centre IT Lead, the position holder will work in cross functional team to design and high level modeling of Enterprise systems I addition to leading a team of Senior Development Analysts handling ERP and related systems in the landscape.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Building processes and facilitating resolution of operational issues that may impede growth.
    • Proactively analyze performance data to identify immediate and long term improvement opportunities
    • Participate in the design and high level modeling of Enterprise systems
    • Manage problem and incident resolutions in liaison with technical and operations departments
    • Research on new trends on systems and advice the business on the best fit models
    • Inspire , up skill and grow  junior analysts in the team
    • Provide the enterprise with the data management and analytics solutions for making good decisions and expanding their own analysis capacity. 
    • Advice Management on resourcing needs, work structure and best fit for support
    • Work collaboratively with users in relevant business units to understand and define relevant reports and dashboards.
    • Define user objectives and goals and design and lead program strategy based on nature of data, processes and needs.
    • Liaise with all business support units including, Third party developers and Core networks design and Support teams to support the growth and sustainability 
    • Monitor, track and understand industry trends and the factors that drive them.
    • Provide benchmarking and other comparative analyses of similar companies utilizing data mining tools and other data technology tools
    • Respond to end user queries and request for support.
    • Troubleshoot technical and non-technical challenges 
    • Manage system capacity and anticipate user demands on resources
    • Work closely with the third party development teams to ensure that the requirements as documented are clearly understood and consult with the developers teams to validate design assumptions. 
    • Ensure that recommended solutions are not sub-optimal, but fit within the overall information management structure of the enterprise
    • Draw up operational Level Agreements with the development teams to ensure deployed systems are working systems and service levels are maintained 
    • Manage interfaces to all other enterprise systems

    Qualifications

    • A degree in IT, Mathematics or  Engineering (Telecommunications or Electrical & Electronic)
    • Intermediate Unix Certification required
    • Intermediate training on networking and security standards e.g. CCNA or its Equivalent
    • Proficiency in programming languages including MSSQL, PL/SQL and Perl
    • Intermediate training on Database Administration essential (Preferably  Oracle and MS SQL)
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with system analysis, data analysis, ERP systems, relational database, data warehouse, and OLAP and programming preferable in PLSQL, Perl and MSSQL.
    • Experience with LAN/WAN Support  including Satellite and fiber communication
    • Knowledge of  Mobile Network  core network systems,  Short Message Service Center (SMSC), routing, Mediation and Intelligent Networks  is an added advantage
