    Head of Operations

    PURPOSE:

    • To develop and implement operational efficiencies and provide decision support on all insurance operational matters to ensure a competitive advantage to MUA and support MUA Kenya Insurance strategy.

     Key Deliverables:

    • Active participation in the formulation and execution of the business strategy in line with the objectives of the Company
    • Active participation in the development and direction of the company’s financial planning and budgeting aligned with the company\'s cost management goals
    • Oversee the different departments in operations and create robust, measurable key performance Indicators (KPIs) for the team, holding them fully accountable for results
    • Ensure profitability of the Health and General Insurance portfolio by managing loss ratios and prudent risk acceptance strategies.
    • Preparation of comprehensive board presentations and consultative proposals focusing on initiatives to enhance overall business performance
    • Formulate, build, and promote a customer-focused culture that supports the delivery of outstanding Customer experience and adherance to set Service level agreements.
    • Formulate operational policies and procedure manuals, leverage technology to monitor adherance and standardize operations to reduce turnaround time in business operations
    • Effective claims management and implementation of cost reduction measures covering acquisition and administration costs
    • Maintaining a conducive work environment for attracting, retaining and motivating employees and focus on staff mentorship for succession management
    • Prepare monthly operations performance reports and ensure effectiveness in meeting the overall organization strategy.
    • Ensure proper operating guidelines are in place in line with company policy and regulatory requirements and monitor compliance
    • Drive initiatives in the management team and organizationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
    • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, effective performance management and motivation of staff
    • Build team capabilities and ensure adequate succession planning within the department.
    • Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good corporate citizenship while maintaining a conducive work environment.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop initiatives that promote a positive and inclusive company culture.
    • Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge and industry trends.
      • Have proven strategic leadership skills/experience with a global perspective.

     Key Competencies

    • Proven organizational management skill is a key requirement for this position.
    • Be a highly networked individual with ability to build and maintain relationships beneficial to the organization.
    • Should have proven track record of business turnaround.
    • Familiarity and skill with the use of IT and analytics.
    • Have thorough understanding of financial management, regulatory compliance, board reporting and demonstrable commercial and operations acumen.

    Academic Background & Relevant Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Marketing/ Insurance /BCOM or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Masters degree in a business-related field will be an added advantage.
    • Diploma in Insurance from AIIK/ACII or its equivalent from a recognized institution; and Member of AIIK/ACII or a relevant professional body in good standing.
    • 12 years experience, with at least 7 years in senior management
    • Deep understanding of different aspects of operations, including claims processing, membership management, benefits management, provider management, relationship management

    Executive Assistant

    PURPOSE:                         

    • To provide indispensable support to the Country Chief Executive’s Office (CCEO), ensure effective and efficient coordination of activities in the CCEO office. This is achieved by maintaining/scheduling appointments, responding to routine correspondence/enquiries and management reporting.

     Key Deliverables:

    • Provide administrative support to pertaining to the CCEO’s Office.
    • Prioritize and draft correspondence and documentation including minutes, agendas, project notes, presentations and administration procedures, manage complex diary and travel arrangements for the CCEO.
    • Ensure the efficient handling of mails while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy and efficiency.
    • Provide executive support to the CCEO, coordinating events and business continuity, ensuring that allocated programmes of work and responsibilities are delivered effectively to time, to standard and to budget, with both internal and external partners, and acting as a key point of contact for advice and support to others.
    • Scheduling appointments in order to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made and that all appropriate people are available to meet at the scheduled time and place. 
    • Manage the provision and dissemination of confidential and sensitive information to and from the CCEO’s office.
    • Supporting coordination of meetings, workshops and events.
    • Carry out market intelligence on a monthly basis for the CCEO;
    • Independently compose correspondence in order to respond to administrative office inquiries using own knowledge of office policies and procedures. 
    • Take type and distribute minutes of meetings to all participants in order to provide a written summary of key points covered in meetings.
    • Provide management reports to the CCEO in support of Operational Efficiency.
    • Support the CCEO in daily monitoring of operational efficiency through our core system and advise on areas of lapses and improvement for management decisions to be made
    • Coordinating workflow efficiency between the CCEO’s office and other units.

    Academic Background & Relevant Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/BCOM or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Professional qualifications in the insurance management industry are preferable.
    • At least 5 Years and above in a busy office environment preferably an Insurance environment or working as a personal assistant to corporate level executive in a reputable firm
    • Must be between 27-35 years of age.
    • Excellent report writing skills with working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point.
