    Deputy Manager, Human Resource Management and Development

    Job Description

    • Consult with Manager, Human Resource Management and Development to align human resource strategy and programs with the organization’s strategy while supporting the AMPATH mission, vison and values.
    • Manage employee relation practices necessary for maintaining a positive employee- employer relationship and promoting a high level of employee commitment.
    • Support the recruitment and selection activities for technical, professional and managerial level positions to include the formulation of the job description, advertising and management of the interview process.
    • Coordinate manpower planning in line with the program’s policies.
    • Handle disciplinary issues and grievances.
    • Undertake capacity building and performance management.

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

    • Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management/ Development, Human Resource Planning and Development, Business Administration/ Management, Public Administration or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following Social Sciences: Human Resource Management, Sociology, Records Management, Public Administration, Business Administration/Management, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Diploma in Human Resource Management.
    • A minimum period of five (5) years’ experience with at least three (3) years in a supervisory position.
    • Membership to the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
    • Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) Certificate is an added advantage.
    • Attended Senior Management Course from a recognized institution.
    • Proficiency in computer applications.
    • Fulfil requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of the Republic of Kenya, 2010 at the point of placement

    Senior Human Resource Officer I (1 Post)

    Job Description

    • Ensure implementation of Human Resource policies.
    • Ensure timely management of program timesheets/effort certification.
    • Participate in recruitment, promotions, induction and other employee relation activities. 
    • Supervise other Human Resource Officers.
    • Update staff compliment and establishment.
    • Process employee employment details.
    • Participate in the preparation of payroll. 
    • Receive and filing of job applications. 
    • Manage annual Staff Appraisal.
    • Identify and carrying out staff training needs.
    • Training and mentoring human resource staff.
    • Handle routine correspondence. 

    For an appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

    • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management/ Development, Human Resource Planning and Development, Business Administration/Management, Public Administration or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following Social Sciences, Human Resource Management, Sociology, Records Management, Public Administration, Business Administration/Management, or it's equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Served in the grade of Officer II for a minimum period of four (4) years or its comparable position.
    • Diploma in Human Resource Management 
    • A minimum period of three (3) years’ experience with at least two (2) years in a supervisor position.
    • Membership to the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
    • Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) is an added advantage

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
