This officer will report to the Director Project Management. An officer at this level will be the head of the Unit and will be responsible for the management and coordination of all Civil Engineering works and maintenance works both electrical and mechanical services of Sports Kenya.

Job Duties

• Be in charge of all Civil Engineering works services;
• Plan, control and co-coordinate of design, construction supervision, repair and maintenance of buildings, roads;
• Plan, control and co-coordinate of design, construction supervision, repair and maintenance of buildings, roads and machinery;
• Check and recommend for approval of engineering consultants designs including: evaluation, certify and recommend fees submitted by consultants and contractors;
• To inspect and analyze the proposed construction project;
• Ensure proper designs and contract drawings for all projects are carried out;
• Ensure execution of internal manpower control/ management and preparation of material/spares requirement with all technical specification, preparation of the budget for repair and maintenance;
• Ensure Maintenance and repair works of the water system including irrigation and ground watering points equipment and controls;
• Research and provide estimates for projects;
• Review government regulations and ordinances on civil works;
• Monitor and optimize safety procedures, production processes, and regulatory compliance;
• Confidently liaise with clients and other professional subcontractors;
• Ensure Maintenance, repair and operation of all Buildings, water pumps and related equipment in the main pump house, pressure vessels and related equipment, all swimming pool circulation pumps including backwash and chlorination of plants, service and maintain all water fountain circulation pumps and related fittings and equipment; and

Job Requirements

• Have at least 5 years’ experience in Civil Engineering works (Structural);
• Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
• Have Current valid annual Practicing License from the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
• Proficient in AutoCAD, REVIT and equivalent software;
• Be Membership with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK); and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Job Description

• Review construction plans and prepare quantity requirements;
• Scrutinize maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals;
• Prepare project cost and budgetary estimates under the direction of the Architect;
• Prepare both itemized quantities and commensurate costs pertaining to the project throughout the development of the project from inception to completion;

• Select and/or source construction materials;
• Keep track of materials and ordering more when requires;
• Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, contractors, project managers and site engineers;
• Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation;
• Prepare reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents;
• Keep track of materials and order more when required;
• Document any changes in design and update budgets;
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders; and
• Any other duties that may from time to time be assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or similar;
• Construction estimating or finance experienced is advantageous;
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills;
• Sound knowledge of construction;
• Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to organize, plan, and strategize;
• Proficient in AutoCAD, REVIT and equivalent software; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Job Duties

• Develop project/construction management policy, procedure and protocols in line with institutional policies and practices;
• Prepare feasibility studies and a technical appraisal of projects to enable the client to decide in what form to proceed;
• Undertake pre-contract, contract and post-contract project administration;
• Issue comprehensive drawings and all necessary details and other information required by the contractor for the proper carrying out of the works;
• Oversee project design, plan, execution and handover;
• Ensure adherence project cost, scope and quality baseline;
• Lead in the production of schematic design, design development, cost plan and Tender drawing, Bill of Quantities and other construction documents in consultation with stakeholders;
• Review new projects for compliance with the master plan to ensure smooth integration of the project;
• Prepare project feasibilities and review documents for quality control evaluation to ensure optimal utilization of resources to achieve theorganizational goals;
• Plan, coordinate and maintain project design schedules to ensure projects are complete within budget and agreed timelines;
• Monitor project progress day to day basis, conduct site meeting, review change/variation request;
• Furnish request for information (RFI) and resolve coordination issues;
• Ensure proper review of valuations and bills submitted by contractors;
• Interpret clients’ requirements, prepare sketch/scheme designs, producing drawings, Bill of Quantities, tender documents and other constriction documents in consultation with other stakeholders;

• Produce structural engineering related calculations forwarding project design under the direction of a Project manager;
• Detail steel and concrete structures as part of contract package development;
• Utilize structural design software, modeling software and CADD/BIM tools
• Develop drawings and models
• Research design options and document findings for Project or Senior Engineer.
• Provide information to Project or Senior Engineer for incorporation into specifications.
• Consult with suppliers or contractors to interpret specifications or other contract criteria.
• Produce contract documents including plans, specifications and quantities.
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
