    Social Worker-Case Management

    Reports To:                 Project Coordinator 

    Duration:                    1 year (Renewable based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds)

    Job Summary:

    As a key member of the HOVIC programme team, you will monitor and report on all project activities related to case management and service delivery in support of MWENDO’s work to ensure improved access to health and social services to the OVC and their families. Your OVC service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies the new Case Management approach to the delivery of quality and time bound services to the OVC and their families as well as enhance their participation in their best interest to constantly work towards improving the impact of the benefits to the project beneficiaries. You will be reporting to the LIP Project Coordinator, work and coordinate closely with otherMWENDO Project staff, key staff form the relevant ministries, Community Health Volunteers and Link Desk Person to contribute to a holistic, integrated, and comprehensive project implementation.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Support the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all assigned project activities as outlined in the DIP in line with organizations principles and standards, donor and GOK requirements, and good practices.
    • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
    • Support the project volunteers in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
    • Collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with other organization staff and volunteers to prepare reports per established reporting schedule and guidelines.
    • Provide technical support and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to the CHVs and Link Desk Persons to ensure effective and quality service provision.
    • Actively engage in identifying and documentation of project promising practices, case and human-interest stories, dissemination and use of relevant knowledge in the field.
    • Represent the organization and MWENDO project in meetings at county, sub county, ward and locational levels, working groups, and other events as requested, to support forging relations with the GOK, other stakeholders, the community and project beneficiaries.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all assigned project activities per donor and CRS standards and established schedules.
    • Ensure community case workers (CCWs – project volunteers) complete required case management forms and ensure case filing system is developed and maintained.
    • Create community linkages for broader community engagement in case management.
    • Conduct joint support supervision with relevant GOK representatives to forge better working relationships
    • Conduct regular home visits with the CHVs to ascertain service provision to the project beneficiaries as well as providing support to the volunteers as package for care of carerers

    Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Community Development or a related field or a Diploma holder with 3 years’ experience
    • At least 2-3 years of work experience in project support in the field of OVC, HIV/AIDS and other health-related projects in Kenya and for an NGO.
    • In-depth understanding of program results, outcomes, impact, and reporting.
    • Experience in participatory action planning and engagement of stakeholders at various levels.
    • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
    • Excellent understating of GOK and PEPFAR OVC guidelines and standards.
    • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

    • Observation, active listening and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment
    • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with GOK, non-GOK partners and community members and beneficiaries with minimal supervision
    • Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities
    • Proactive, results-oriented and service-oriented
    • Ability to ride motorcycle
    • Ability to work under deadlines and meet strict donor deadlines

    Required Language

    • Able to clearly communicate in written and spoken English
    • Ability to converse in Luo is an added advantage

    Field Agent Supervisor

    Reports To:                 HES Officer

    Position Type:            Contract

    Duration:                    1 year(Renewable based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds)

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the HES project Officer, the Field Agent Supervisor is responsible for supervising Field Agents and ensuring the quality of the SILC groups they form and roll out of other economic Strengthening activities; ensuring the project meets its objectives and targets, Training and mentorship of Field Agent and certifying them as PSPs; overseeing their work as PSPs and organizing them into networks.He/she will support SILC Field Agents to conduct sensitization meetings on HES initiatives, develop individual work plans, monitors their execution and prepare monthly project performance reports.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    Project Coordination and Supervision

    • Works with the Field Agents to develop responsive monthly workplans and ensures implementation of the plans and prudent utilization of resources.
    • Holds regular Field Agent meetings and community meetings to review progress, address emerging issues and plan for subsequent actions.
    • Coordinate all support supervision activities by Field Agents ensuring that SILC groups and beneficiaries are adequately provided with the support they need.
    • Continually communicates to theHES Officeron project progress, challenges and support required to deliver on the project objectives.
    • Ensures that all the activities being implemented are conducted within a process that enhances community ownership, participation and contribution for sustainability.
    • Takes lead in developing working relationships and linkages with Community leaders as well with other OVC actors to promote HES initiatives and market MWENDO project.

    Service delivery to OVC and their caregivers

    • Work closely with the HES Officer, Project Coordinator, Case Management and System strengthening Project Officers to develop case plans and support implementation of HES interventions.
    • Supports project team members in implementation of key activities that includes: recruitField Agents, Map and define agent operating areas, support agent certification, PSP launches and PSP network formation.
    • Train and mentor Field Agents to deliver services to OVC caregivers. These services shall include but not limited to trainings on SILC PSP model, CRS SMART skills modules, Financial literacy, marketing basics and 7 Steps of Marketing and value chains analysis and roll out MWENDO emergency Fund.
    • Works with the DCS and Private Sector Actors to advocate for linkage of caregivers to GOK cash transfers, in kind agricultural support and other subsidies.
    • Work with project team to link OVC not in school to CAP -YEI and other relevant empowerment programs

    Coordination of Care to OVC

    • Works with the DCS and Private Sector Actors to advocate for linkage of caregivers to GOK cash transfers, in kind agricultural support and other support.
    • Works with GoK departments and county government departments to offer extension services to strengthen the capacity of producer groups and SILC farmer groups.

     Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge management

    • Conducts structured support supervisions and spot checks to Field agents, SILC groupsand other HES initiatives at the HH level to ensure quality service delivery to OVC and their caregivers.
    • Review data collection forms before entry to SILC MIS to ensure accuracy of data.
    • Participate in data review meetings together with the project team to ensure effective data entry, analysis, reporting and accountability for results.
    • Supports project team members to identify, document, and disseminate knowledge products to build on evidence based practices in Household Economic strengthening initiatives.
    • Responsible for timely monthly and quarterly reporting to the HES officer.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Supervises SILC Field Agents/Private Service Providers

    Required Qualifications and Experience:

    Academic Qualifications

    • Diploma in business administration, community development, agriculture and other related disciplines.

    Knowledge

    • Previous experience working with decentralized, community-based projects
    • Previous experience with savings group programming is preferred
    • Excellent analytic and computer skills; skilled in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
    • Excellent report writing skills.

    Skills and Abilities

    • Willingness to be based in the field and to travel long distances
    • Fluency in one or more languages of the operating area
    • Good community mobiliser and facilitator
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to ride motorcycle
    • Valid motorcycle permit
