This will be the entry and training grade for assistant agricultural officers’ cadre. An officer at this level will be deployed at in the ward or Agriculture Training Centre.

Duties and responsibilities will involve training and advising farmers on matters related to crop production, Agribusiness, land development, planning and management of agricultural demonstration plots.

1. Duties and responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade for Food technologist cadre. An officer at this level will be deployed at Agriculture Training Centre or any agro-processing plant in the County.

Duties and responsibilities will involve training and advising farmers on matters related to Agribusiness, planning and management of agroprocessing related demonstrations in the County, Management of Agroprocessing plants at Agriculture Training Centre and any other location in the County. The Officer will be the head of an Agroprocessing unit in the County.

JOB GROUP ‘E’ 

a) Duties and responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for mechanics. An officer at this level will be expected to maintain the county Tractor in good condition at all times. Specific duties and responsibilities will involve carrying out repairs to plant and farm tractors, maintain workshop tools, ensure cleanliness of the work and any other duty assigned by the workshop manager.

b) Requirements for appointments

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

• Kenya certificate of secondary education [KCSE], mean grade D plain or its equivalent.
• Occupational Trade Test grade III
• Two years’ experience as a mechanic in a recognized institution/Motor vehicle garage or an internship of similar period.

1. Carrying out simple treatment of animals
2. Participating in disease search and reporting, demonstrating on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting, carrying out vaccination and undertaking closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, de-beaking and hoof trimming.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail: carrying out practical demonstrations relating to livestock production; collecting and collating livestock data and information; accompanying extension teams during farm visits and farmer trainings; participating in field days and agricultural shows to disseminate livestock production technologies and information; collecting and collating livestock data and information for gross margins, market access and planning; participating in collaborative research activities; collecting livestock inputs and products samples for analysis; and advising farmers on group formation, construction of farm structures and equipment.

(b) Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

Diploma in any of the following fields: – Animal Production, Dairy Science and Technology, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Animal Health and Production, Farm Management, Apiculture or Range/Natural Resource Management from a recognised Training Institution; and

JOB GROUP ‘K’ 

(a) Duties and responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for degree holders. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of an experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail:- receiving and compiling fisheries related statistical data from field officers; analyzing fisheries data and preparing reports; assisting in Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) of the fisheries resources; undertaking fisheries extension activities; maintaining of ponds at fish farms and hatcheries; inspecting fish and fish handling facilities at fish landing sites, markets and farms; and assisting in the promotion of fish marketing and value addition.

(b) Requirement for Appointment

1. Bachelors degree in any of the following fields: – Fisheries, Zoology, Aquatic Sciences, Natural resource Management, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Environmental Science, Chemistry or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution; and

JOB GROUP “K” 

Work at this level involves working with both pediatric and adult patients with kidney disease. The nephrology nurse working in a dialysis unit will be involved in delivery of primary care, secondary care and case management of patients.

Duties and responsibilities

• Assisting with dialysis treatment in hospital settings based on patient preferences and capabilities
• Maintain inventory and care of dialysis equipment
• Substantial ability to operate dialysis equipment
• Assessment of patients and development of care plan in collaboration with other members of the health care team
• Identification of risk factors
• Patient and family education with regard to treatment protocols to help manage expectations
• Provision of nursing care prior to, during and post dialysis treatment and
• Implementing interventions and preparing periodic reports.

Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Worked in a busy renal care unit for a minimum period of two (2) years
• Diploma in the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry qualification from a recognized institution
• Higher Diploma in Kenya Registered Nephrology Nursing from a recognized institution
• Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
• Valid practicing licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
